Player Plot - Jouney Through Desert Resort [Locked to Subaru & Emmet]

 It was a strange feeling, sand passing through him. As an incorporeal being of course, technically he couldn't feel it at all of course. But he could see the sand come toward him and not stop, as it did when it blew over the others.

Subaru already had his poncho from the store on- in addition, his pokemon were either within their pokeballs or kept in check by Yuuma's own. Travelling along Route 4 had been the easy part, where the road had been relatively safe to traverse.

Now, however, they were in the Desert Resort- and reaching the building known as 'Relic Castle' would be easier said than done. Vicious winds blew sand around until it was impossible to see more than a few feet before them- And any single mound of it could be mistaken for the land that the ruinous building sat upon.

"Subaru," he called out, voice somehow still overpowered by the howling winds. Behind him, the pokemon were each doing their part to shield the other from the harsh winds- though Muzumuzu was relatively unaffected even he had troubles, a fact that had the psychic of the group doing her best to at least shield them from the worst, the tiny Kuribolt barely avoiding a fate of being blown away while Achacha acted as a wall. "Subaru," he repeated, looking to the boy. "How are you faring..??"

[Subaru looked over at Astral and his Pokemon. His Pokemon were indeed in their own Pokeballs, but it was heartening to see all three of them evolve at nearly the same time while they had been traveling down Route 4 and through the Resort Desert. It felt as if they had been responding to their goal, the need to help Yuuma and Astral.

But having his own Pokemon being kept in Pokeballs only made him feel more bothered whenever he looked back at the others, having no Pokeballs to retreat into.]

I'm faring well enough. I should be asking you and your Pokemon about that. Kuribolt especially...

"Aah..." He looked back to the others, Achacha currently giving up on being a wall and carrying Kuribolt about like a mother luxray would her cubs. "I am not entirely sure. They appear to be holding up well enough, but I worry about what will happen once we come into battle..."

He looks back ahead, frowning. "As it is, I am somewhat shocked- I did not expect the storm to be this great..."

"Munnnnnnn..." Evidently, Galu agrees.

Mmmhm. Still, we can't give up on this...Ne, Achacha...do you want me to hold onto Kuribolt for you, at least? I can do that much...

[Subaru turns around at that, putting his back to the wind so that he can face the other Pokemon. Maybe he should have gotten them cloaks as well...]

"Gtt...?" The response is muffled, but after a moment he hops over through the sand and holds his head up.

"....Ru..!" Kuribolt looks a little shamed, but she'll at least take Subaru over her other option!

In the meantime, Astral floats above. "I wonder... The storm has gotten fiercer as we move inward. If it is possible for pokemon to create such a thing at a high scale, we may in fact be approaching our destination..."

Pokemon can do a lot of things...and there have been a lot of them in this desert. It's a possibility, isn't it?

[And he'll take Kuribolt into his arms. At least you're protected by a cloak, now!]

"Rrnfff, fff..." Snuggle snuggle snuggle. The other pokemon merely continue on their way, following around the two in silence as Astral frowns.

"In that case, we should likely prepare for battle- no doubt that if it is caused by pokemon, we will encounter them when they find their storm is not deterring those approaching."

[Subaru nods.] Sounds like a plan. [He lets out two of his own Pokemon, Rocky and Leo. It's odd, though, after its evolution into a Lucario, it actually doesnt seem affected by the sandstorms at all. Subaru would have to look out at that later.]

Rocky, can you keep an eye out for any hostile aura signatures? It'll be difficult in this storm, and I know you're still getting used to your new abilities, but...think of this as training, I guess? Leo, you do the same, only use your new X-Ray vision...see if you can spot anything.

[The two Pokemon grin, looking ready for the challenge. Then they glare at each other, both eager to to outdo the other Pokemon, before turning around and strutting forward. Subaru suddenly has a bad feeling about this.]

Oi...

Astral shakes his head, sighing. "Hahhh... Right. Muzumuzu, Achacha."

The two perk up as Kuribolt yips from Subaru's cloak, nodding. Achacha with his keen eye, and Muzumuzu with his general sense for 'souls'... The two move forward, the bird hopping and the candle floating along. "On your guard," Astral warns, another yip coming from Kuribolt to translate.

[This odd procession keeps going forward for some time, before both Rocky and Leo let out a barking noise at the same time. They take a moment to glare at each other, as if challenging the other to say that they were first, before catching Subaru giving them his no-nonsense expression-now is not the time for their shenanigans. They both indicate the sky...]

What? What's over there, you two?

[Suddenly, both Leo and Rocky jump away, as a blast of sand-laced wind strikes the spot where they had just been mere seconds before, leaving Subaru to shield himself from the spray of sand.]

U-uhaaaa! What was-?!

ACHACHA USED FEATHERDANCE.

The pokemon react immediately, Achacha sending up a blast of feathers first. "GEEEEEEEEE!!!"

"MUZUMUZU," Astral ordered, the zorua at the side quickly barking more orders. "Will-o-wisp!"

As the targets were coated with feathers from above the little litwick cackled, spinning upward with a wash of heat- shooting it forward the feathers burned off- however their effects combined remained, and the now revealed swarm hissed in rage.

Astral, understandably, seemed to grow paler than he already was. "Guardians of the Desert Resort and Relic Castle," he noted, recalling the pokedex entry with ease. "Sigylph..!"

Guardians?! [Then they really were close. But there were too many to fight off all at once...they needed to press their advantage, keep the swarm from being attacked directly.]

Zutz! [And Subaru's third Pokemon is released.] Quick, Confuse Ray! Leo, join in with Swagger!

[Let's get them attacking each other...]

The pokemon cries fill the air with screeches and roars alike, and as Achacha attempts to batter his foes with as powerful a flying attack he can muster Astral points Muzumuzu forward. "HEX!" he calls, the ghost cackling loudly as he held stubby limbs up.

A wave of darkness surrounded him entirely- and with one quick explosion after another the enemy fell, fainting to the ground. For each one however, it seemed they were quickly replaced...

These Sigylph were being 'led', but by what..? "Hmmmm... ...Subaru!" he called out. "Look for the one who isn't fighting- one of these pokemon is giving commands..!"

Right! Rocky, we'll need you for this! Trace the aura signature that isn't moving, then separate it from the others with a Quick attack! Zutz and Leo, you help the others fight off the swarm!

[The Pokemon nod, before Zutz starts sending out more Confuse Rays to confuse the newly appearing Sigilyph, and Leo starts ramming into them with sparking tackles. Rocky leaps off into the swarm...]

Meanwhile Muzumuzu appears to glow.

"Ah... Now..??"

"Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...." Another wing attack from Achacha, and as the ghost he's partnered with continues to glow waves of heat singe the ones that are attempting to attack the others- the light grows even more, and-

"LAMMMMP!" In a fierce blast of flame, the pokemon waves now long black arms, spinning in place.

"Ah... Lampent..."

"PENNNNNNT!" Back to the battle then..!

[Subaru lets out a yelp when he spots Muzumuzu evolving, but then nods, focusing back on the battle. They all were working hard...!]

Rii-OOO! [After using several Sigilyph as stepping stones to hop his way up to where the main leader was, Rocky startles it out of position with a Quick attack. It takes one more Quick attack from the back for Rocky to knock the leader into range where the others could spot it-it's easy to spot as well, with its unusual coloring-a shiny, not that Subaru knows of those.] Lu!

Astral spots it soon enough thanks to Rocky's actions. And with a quick nod to the others that is barked from Kuribolt, he gives the next command.

"EVERYONE!" he shouts, pointing toward the swarm attempting to close in on Rocky and his opponent. "Cover him!"

"LAMP!" "GEOT!" "MUN!!"

[It's a good thing as well, because other than Quick Attack, Rocky doesn't have any attacks that could work well on a dual Psychic/Flying type. Sure, he resents having Leo grin up at him (what, you need cover now?), but he's grateful nonetheless. Meanwhile, while Zutz and Leo follow the other Pokemon...]

Ne, Astral? You said these Pokemon were guardians of these ruins, right?

The spirit nods. "Correct- they have been in this area, according to the pokedex, since ancient times... From when the Relic Castle was still being built."

Hm. You think that means they might know where the relic that we're seeking is, then?

[He's got an idea, anyway, even as Leo attacks the leading shiny Sigilyph with a Spark attack, right into Zutz, who bats it away with a Wing Attack.]

"There's a high possibility," he shouts, attempting to be heard over the sounds of battle. "It would be their home after all..!"

Well then...

[Subaru is still a little apprehensive about catching yet another Pokemon. Hadn't he told himself that he wouldn't catch that many? But still, this was for Yuuma's sake. If the Sigilyph really did know, then catching one, especially the leader, would really help speed things up. And taking the leader out of the fight would help as well. And if Sigilyph really did know of ancient times...maybe they would be of help in future searches?

There was no more time to hesitate. No matter how well the Pokemon were fighting now, they needed to save their strength for the exploration, and who knew how many Sigilyph were there.]

Go! [And he throws an empty Pokeball that he's been slowly taking out while running the pros and cons through his mind, aiming it straight at the downed leading Sigilyph.]

The ball flies, and as the other pokemon serve as distractions, it hits. A beam of light appears to surround the creature, and it's sucked within instantly. Shaking once...

Twice...

[And then a third time. Then...it clicks shut. It's been caught. Subaru sighs, then nods to himself.]

We've got it.

[There's a triumphant howl coming from Leo at this. Do the other Sigilyph notice?]

They do indeed. Immediately the battle comes to a halt. Each one of the Sigylph stare, unblinking at the pokeball...

And then without another word they flee. The sandstorm itself dies down somewhat... And in the distance, shadows can now be seen.

"Without their leader, they have no reason to fight," Astral notes. "Interesting..."

Then that means that there's a good possibility that the leader is the one who knows why they need to protect this place...we've got a good lead.

[Subaru sighs as he picks up the Pokeball.]

...I hope it's cooperative...
