[action and a video] Somewhere in Pinwheel forest... forward dated some

Hazel has been traveling pretty much constantly since the two year skip. Not aimlessly though. They are obviously off the beaten path in the forest. Her caravan has been left parked elsewhere to save time.

"Did we see the mossy rock last time we were here?"

Her Espeon just shakes his head. If they saw it he doesn't remember. She sighs and turns on her Xtransceiver.

[ She looks at the camera sheepishly while Zack decides to sniff around. ]

Has anyone ever come across a large mossy rock in Pinwheel Forest? One that um... kinda feels a bit strange if that makes any sense. It's supposed to have something to do with evolving Eevee.

So...

[ Before she can finish her thought Zack gets a scent that obviously must be followed right this second. Suddenly... Running... While Hazel happens to be sitting on his back. ]

Eep! Zack!

[ Nope. Not stopping just yet. Gotta find the thing! ]

Hazel hastily shuts off her Xtransceiver and puts it away to avoid dropping it since she isn't actually wearing it.

"Zaaack! Where are we going?" She's still a bit shocked at the sudden run but, she's more curious about what he's trying to find than alarmed really. She didn't actually tell him to stop after all.

He pauses for a second to make sure he's still on the trail before he's off again.

Zack might just be sniffing the remains of a campsite, one that has been remade after a brief cool-down of two years. Thanks to the forest rearranging itself over time, a former travel team has gotten somewhat split up yet again... And Thor is quite determined to bring it back together before leaving.

And that's where the arcanine comes in. "Oh?" Another trainer in this area of the woods?

Zack isn't shy about barging right into the middle of the campsite. He looks quite proud of himself for finding it.

Hazel decides to get down while he's standing still. She doesn't want to be carried away with him if he decides to go looking for something else right away.

"Oh.. Hi. I um... Hope we're not intruding," she mutters awkwardly. Thor isn't someone she's spoken to a whole lot.

Cloud strolls in a moment after them. He didn't hurry when the Arcanine ran off. He knew Zack wouldn't let Hazel get hurt.

Oh--!

Someone he hasn't seen for a bit, that's for sure-- "You haven't done anything of the sort!" he replies cheerfully, gesturing to the campsite and roasting food. "If anything, you are just in time!" ~~YES LETS ALL FEAST ON SAWSBUCK~~

"Oh good. Sometimes I worry Zack will bother someone..." She gives the Arcanine a pat on the side. "...In time?" He was inviting her to stay and eat, right? Would it be rude to make excuses not to? Etiquette wasn't really something she had more than passing familiarity with.

And Zack doesn't know too much more than not to pounce on strangers. He's fidgety and obviously not interested in sitting still right now. He'd take off after another interesting smell in an instant if it didn't mean leaving Hazel behind at the moment.

"If you were later, I would have been eating already!" Yea don't interrupt that--

ALSO IT'S RUDE TO NOT SHARE FOOD GOSH COME CELEBRATE--

"And if you were earlier, I would have still been preparing it to cook!" Skinning a sawsbuck... Nice.

"Oh um... We were just looking for a mossy rock..."

She's not really a vegetarian but, she's squeamish about eating Pokémon. Having one that can talk to her kinda makes that worse.

"And Zack is really excited to get going again." She's trying to hide her discomfort... it's not going that well.

Zack decides to try helping by circling the edge of the campsite and acting more eager than usual. Really excited, see? Let's go find the thing!

Hey man he's been stuck in the woods for months a guy's gotta eat--

"You are questing for a 'Mossy Rock?" Hohhhh...

He gives it a bit of thought and grins. "I may have seen such a stone before!"

She doesn't judge... as long as you're not kicking puppies or something like that.

"You have? Where?" She hasn't been searching that long really. She just wasn't looking forward to potentially having to crawl all over the forest. Never mind that he might not remember where or that he might not be the best person to get directions from.

"A few days ago," he tells her rather cheerfully. "Back in that direction."

Days.

Lovely.

Hazel doesn't respond right away, unsure what she wants to do.

Zack though... he sniffs around a bit and decides to follow the first trail of Thor's scent he finds that leads close to the indicated direction.

"...You've um, been in this area for a while, haven't you?" Hazel asks sheepishly. "He'll um... be back soon I guess." The Arcanine can take care of himself long enough to figure out his tracking probably isn't going to help here.

"Yes! Juudai and I have been here for a number of months!" OH GOD--

"...However, we appear to have become separated again, so I am searching for him before I leave." THOR.

"Maybe we could help?" She sounds uncertain. That 'again' worries her a bit. Does that mean they've just been repeatedly losing each other? "How long has it been since you saw him last?"

Zack isn't back yet but, it sounds like he's abandoned the paths and is crashing through the underbrush somewhere nearby.

"Only a few days!" Yep. "We went to bed for the evening, and then in the morning, everything was different!"

...

These two dorks slept through Arceus.

"I guess a lot changed for only two years." It doesn't occur to her that they missed Arceus. Oops?

Oh look. Zack is back. He's got twigs and leaves stuck all over himself and he's pouting. Likely just disappointed that he didn't find anything.

"Two years?" HAHAHA

"Surely you jest!" AHAHA

"...No?"

Processing...

"Wait. Didn't you see Arceus?" No joke. Just shock.

"I have never even heard of this 'Arceus'!" WHAT WHAT WHAT

She takes a couple of deep breaths to calm herself and gather her thoughts.

"...I think it's a Pokémon god or something." She's not really sure. "It brought us here to help with 'Matters Of Dire Consequence' but, it was too early so...it time traveled a bunch of us two years forward I guess." She doesn't know how they missed out on getting to make the choice though.

"You spoke with the god of this world?" OHHH--

OHHHH DIRE CONSEQUENCE-- "What are these matters then?" he starts, standing quiet suddenly. "If they are as dire as this 'Arceus' claims, then we must act at once!"

"Not for very long... It didn't say exactly what we're needed for." She fidgets uncomfortably. "I didn't think to ask either." Asking questions of god-like beings is way out of her comfort zone.

"And I don't think it's happening right this instant." Gotta make that known before he goes and rushes around looking for who-knows-what.

"We've probably been given some time to adjust to the changes..." It would make more sense than dumping a bunch of disoriented people into the middle of a conflict.

"Hmm..." Well. "It does seem wiser to give warriors time to gather..." Ohgosh Thor no--

"Well, um... I'm not really sure that um... warriors gathering is exactly what Arceus has in mind..." Mostly because she is about as far from a warrior as a person could get without being a complete pacifist.

"If there is to be a war there will be need of warriors will there not?" but thor it's not war--

Is it weird that it took this long for her to start getting frustrated?

"...I didn't say it was a war." Not that she knows for sure. Almost regretting letting Zack investigate the smell now. She just want one of her Eevee to be a Leafeon darn it.

Zack whines uncertainly. He has no clue what he should do.

"A 'matter of dire consequence' would surely be a type of 'war', would it not?"

Even if it's a war on one big thing really.

"...It might be but, there are other things it could be." She can think of a couple at least. "And I don't think anyone knows where or when exactly whatever is going to happen will..."

She's grasping for a way to get him out of the gather warriors mindset.

"...Maybe gathering information before people would be better." Somehow she doesn't think that will work but, you never know.

"Hmmmm..." Well...

There's no one here but... "Perhaps with this device..." Thank you strange not-midgardian speech device.

ONTO OTHER MATTERS NOW. "For what reason do you seek this 'rock'?"

Blink, blink. Okay, just roll with it Hazel. She releases one of her Eevee from its ball and picks it up.

"Well, it's supposed to make one of these evolve into a grass type." The Eevee just enjoys her cuddles for the moment.

Oh? "It is an 'evolution stone'?" What an impressive relic wow cool--

"Then we must find it at once!" thor no--

"Yeah..."

The Eevee, not having been out in Thor's presence that long, get's somewhat shocked look on its face. Is this guy for real?

"Um... we're not in that much of a rush."

"Is it not important to find this stone soon?"

He is for real, eevee.

he is.

"It's important. Just not urgent." Nothing bad is going to happen if it takes more than a few days for her to find the thing. "Aerith doesn't mind waiting a little." It's a big change. Time for thought is a good thing.

"So um... is it a few days travel away or has it just been that long since you saw it?"

He nods. "Yes! Perhaps... Two days?" Hard to say really, it was just a normal mossy rock to him at the time.

"Okaay... I think I'll want more information..." It's pretty clear Thor doesn't know exactly where it is so...

"Zack," she calls the Arcanine over. "Do you think you can find a wild Pokémon that would help us?"

He barks and puffs out his chest confidently. Of course he can.

"Well, go on then..." And he's off before she's finished talking. Excitable, isn't he? "...We can ask about Judai when Zack gets back too."

"How much more is needed?" Maybe he has it?

"Well, what you told me already is pretty vague." She just doesn't want to spend too long maybe going the wrong way. And to her Thor doesn't seem too sure of what direction it might be in. "A little bit more would be helpful."

And Zack is crashing through underbrush somewhere nearby again. Path? What path? Grooming is gonna be fuuun later.

Blinking.

"We need only follow the path I have taken to reach this place, do we not?"

"Which path was that again?"

Zack picks now to jump out of the bushes with a Sewaddle on his head. New friend or just something that got picked up in the bushes?

He points to a small clearing in the trees behind him. "That one!"

That is not a path, Thor, that is a 'path created'.

"Um..."

Zack isn't really thinking about whether he's interrupting and just sits himself in front of Hazel and lowers his head so that the bug is at her eye level.

"Er, hello there. Are you here to help?"

It nods happily. Yup. It's a helpful little thing... and Zack bribed it with promises of berries.

Ehee--

"You-- Are you able to speak with them?!" HOLYSHI--

"Well, most Pokémon do understand people but, if I want to know what they say I need Cloud to translate..." It occurs to her that she probably has to explain that. "Um... it's a psychic Pokémon thing... telepathy..." And she has no clue whether he knows what that means.

"So then you are partnered with one who translates!" AHH! HE SEES.

"Yeah. He usually only talks to me though." One of his quirks.

"Anyway..." And her attention is back on the Sewaddle as Cloud decides to come over and sit on her feet. "Do you know where the special mossy rock is?"

Its answer is accompanied by some bouncing and excited gesturing with its tiny little legs. 'Of course! It's not too far from here.'

"That's good," Hazel replies after a short pause for Cloud to translate.

Only to you-- nOOOOO

Ah well. "What did the large caterpillar creature say?" Wow Thor, kind as that was, that was also kinda rude.

"Just that it knows where the mossy rock is and that it isn't far from here."

The bug has no clue whether to be offended at being called a caterpillar creature.

"I um, guess that means I'll be going to find that now..." And she remembers something. "Oh. Your friend is still lost... did you want help finding him or...?"

He shakes his head. "The offer is appreciated, however I believe I shall fare well on my own, this time. Better that you pursue your own quest for now!"

ok then

"Okay..." Maybe she'll keep an eye out for him while she's in the forest. "I'll guess I'll see you around."

Zack is eager to go and crouches down so Hazel can get on.

"Bye." And they're off.
