EVENT - October Plot Stuff Part One

It's the early morning, after the eggs have hatched. How fun - I hope you all love your new Pokemon friends.

But that is not what this post is about. Oh, no. It's going to prove something to all of you.

Namely, the fact that NPCs can use this network as well. They can use it for all sorts of purposes - like sending out a text to all the newbies. Like this one here - sent from the formal parts of the Nacrene Gym! Whatever could it be? Well, read on...

Dear trainers;

This letter is to invite all of you to an archaeological dig in the Relic Castle, beginning in four days.

Us Gym Leaders have been watching you since you were attacked by those Pokemon around a month ago. Before then, those Pokemon had not stirred from their places in the various ruins of Unova. You're all something special - and that may not extend to just summoning Pokemon who have not been seen in many years.

The dig is to investigate reports of a strange stone, buried at the bottom of the Relic Castle. Many reports have poured in from trainers - the main parts of the ruins have been closed to the public for a while, due to them. We've looked before, but now it seems that things are changing in this region.

And that is why we are inviting you to come along. Transport will be provided, as well as protection from the elements. If any issues come up during the dig, us at the Nacrene Gym will take all responsibility for it - there is no need for panic.

We will be starting the trip to the ruins in two days - and the trip shall be sped up by our transportation. If you wish to come, reply by then.

Please note that during this time, the Nacrene Museum and Gym will be closed, as nobody will be there. We apologize for the inconvinience, but this may be one of the biggest finds of the century.

Yours sincerely;
Nacrene Gym

Well. You've got two days to talk it over with others - it seems the channel is still open, but there won't be replies from the gym. But you can still use it as a public talking ground thing with friends! |D

Joy...?

((OOC: This is part one of the event - just getting people going! In two days, I'll be putting up another post, for the travel [which is also just a shortthing] - but backtagging is encouraged for all of these things. And stuff. [We will need backtagging for the exploring won't we :p]

I'll also be putting up my plans for the whole dig in the OOC comm within the next few days.))

You've been in a balloon? Like, a legit hot air balloon?

...They had balloons back then?

[Paprika, you dolt, you might want to brush up on the history that you probably slept through the first time around anyways.]

Eh, it only takes, like, five seconds.

[She's already tapping away, halfway done by the time she finishes speaking. Hopefully, N will actually get and read it.]

Yes, we have balloons back then. [He narrows his eyes a bit at that; it's still a discomforting concept, being from the past.]

I own a balloon, actually. I'm not a professional aeronaut by any means, but... [He powers down his Xtransceiver and returns it to his coat pocket, then looks up with a somewhat smug smile.] I have, on occasion, piloted it myself.

[He leans forward slightly to watch Paprika type the text message, noting that she is much faster than he is at it. He still can't get over the fact that the letters on the keyboard aren't in alphabetical order! They're all jumbled up! Why!?] I see. You are very quick with that; It would have taken me more time to do that than it would have just to go find him. [He laughs.]

[He just went up a dozen or so awesome points in her book.]

You own a balloon? Dude, you must be loaded!

[She laughs at this--ah, to be technologically inept. She'll hold her tongue on mentioning that he sounds like her grandpa when he says that.]

I guess it's just cause it's, like, the only thing that's really still like the real world, y'know?

[Though if her world is the real world, where did everyone else come from? She's probably not smart enough to be thinking about things like this.]

Er, at least my real world, that is. This place kinda has to be real, too, 'else we wouldn't be in it.

[Finally! It's been too long since someone was properly impressed by him. He grins, pleased.] Yes! It's rather a nice one, too; quite expensive. [Loaded isn't a term he's particularly acquainted with, but he's pretty sure is a compliment. Maybe.]

You have these Xtransceiver contraptions in your world? [From what he can understand, he and Paprika are from similar worlds. He is inclined to agree with her calling it the 'real world', and he shrugs when she tries to clarify.] It is real, I suppose. If you accept that it isn't a dream or a hallucination or something like that, anyway. Given the amount of time we've been here, and all of the people I've met, I have to assume it is a real place.

I have this really dinky old Honda that's probably older than I am, but I guess there isn't really anywhere I could just, like, hop into a hot air balloon and fly to.

[Not that a lack of a practical use for big, flying things stops her from wanting them.]

We have things kinda like them, only we call 'em iPhones and the apps they have here are way different. This whole place is pretty legit, though. It'd be awesome if we could just, like, pop in whenever we wanted and then pop back out to go do other stuff at home.

[He considers that for a little while.] It would be rather nice, to be able to go between both worlds... I hadn't thought about that. I wonder if I shall miss this world very much when I go home? [Now that he thinks about it, the more time he spends here the less anxious he is to leave. Not that he wants to stay, just that... it would be all right if it took a little while.] This world doesn't make the most sense, but it is a good place. It does not seem to have as many troubles as the... 'real world'.

Yeah, I'll say. This place is a heckuva lot more chill than back home.

[Not that she's alluding to her own problems, since her life has always been a bit on the charmed side.]

Kinda makes me wonder what's going on where I'm from, though--I mean, I'm sorta supposed to be in school and stuff right now.
