I know all these Pokémon can evolve and change shape and stuff-- [She looks over at Lulu, who's evolved into a Lucario recently in order to emphasize her point.] --but what are... you know, the requirements for it? Are they different for all Pokémon?

Most will evolve once they reach certain levels but, there are some with other requirements. Riolu is one of those. It needs to be happy in order to evolve and there are several others that do as well.

A lot of them evolve just by getting stronger, but some have different things they need, too - some need to be traded, some need special stones, um...
Some even depend on the time of day...!
