united_one | [action] Outside Striaton City, trying to figure out how limited he is here... [video} later

Currently outside of Striaton City there is what appears to be a free for all among Sephiroth and most of his Pokémon. Except after a few seconds it becomes apparent that the Pokémon are all attacking the trainer. They look like they might have been at this for a while.

A Vulpix shoots a flame while an Emolga is trying to trip him up and Absol is aiming a Bite at the man's arm.

Sephiroth doesn't have his practice sword today. Oh well, why doesn't really matter. He counters the Vulpix's fire with some sort of Ice. He doesn't manage to dodge the Bite and swings his arm to dislodge Absol, flinging the Pokémon across the field before Emolga manages to trip him.

Then he rolls to his feet in time to get out of the way of a Dragonbreath attack from a swooping Vibrava only to be slammed to the ground again by a Dragonair.

He looks frustrated but, gets up again anyway. Looks like he doesn't plan to stop any time soon.

[[ video ]] Several hours later

[ Sephiroth is sitting against a rock looking like he's just been through hell. In the background some of his Pokémon can be seen curled up sleeping and also kind of looking like they've been through hell. ]

It doesn't seem to take that long for a properly trained Pokémon to gain some extremely destructive powers. And any idiot can gain access to them with little trouble.

[ A pause as he regards his sleeping team. Even weakened by this place he is impressed that they can keep up with him. ]

So, how is it that this world has not devolved into chaos?

[Batgirl observes the wounded man and Pokemon, amazed that someone else had decided to adopt similar training as her. However, it was clear that this person was both doing things differently. From the way he spoke, she figured he was also from a world with at least a comparable amount of metahuman activity and power, if not more so.]

I wondered the same thing when I first arrived. This world also lacks the heroes of my world who would fight for justice or keep peace. It has powerful trainers, gym leaders and the Pokemon League, but they have other duties... and protecting this world does not seem to be their focus.

[She pauses for a moment to collect her thoughts and words]

I believe... perhaps both the people and creatures here simply have good natures; more often than not.

[ He stays silent for a long moment. ]

Good nature will only get this world so far.

[ Team Plasma is evidence of that. And he's read some things about incidents in other regions. ]

I doubt Team Plasma really has the well being of anyone in mind with their actions.

I agree. I believe there should be more than good nature and positive ideals. Action needs to be taken against those who do, and wish to do harm.

[Team Plasma. Finding out more information about it, and stopping any dangerous activities they are planning has really been her only goal in this world so far. N and others had warned her that despite there seemingly noble intentions, there may be something darker about them.]

From what I have found,Team Plasma's apparent ideals are not without some good intentions. But I have seen in my world that good intentions can often lead to dangerous or even evil acts.

[She pauses for a moment before continuing, lowering her head. Despite his cold personality, this man does seem to grasp that things could get worse here with a single mistake or evil mind.]

I was told that this region's "gym badges" would earn Team Plasma's, and others' respect. However it seems even strong natural trainers in this world are more invested in these badges, and competition of the Pokemon League. Some of us who have recently come from elsewhere have joined in that desire, or are focused on finding their way home. I wish I saw more active heroes in this world. For now, I will continue to train in case Plasma needs to be confronted.

[She struggled to find all those words and to say them with any amount of elegance; even with all of lessons and practice. She would have preferred to say as little, or even less than the man she was talking to. Still, she felt she had to get her ideas across somehow... if nothing more, to try and grasp more of this person's true nature.]

You are a protector of sorts then?

[ He looks mildly amused. ]

Perhaps I can expect you'll jump to the call if this world needs a defender.

[ He might too. If he finds this world worthy of protection. There might be a chance of that if he warms up to the people half as much as he has the Pokémon. The seriousness of the scene might be a bit ruined by the sleepy Emolga crawling onto Sephiroth's shoulder and looking at the screen wanting to know who he's talking to... and just cuddling against his neck and going back to sleep once her curiosity is satisfied. ]

[Batgirl nods]

I was, on my world. I wish to do what I can while I am here.

[She hesitates before responding to his next statement]

You can indeed expect that. But I am unable to protect the entire world on my own. Still, I will do what I can.

[She seems surprised at the Emolga's behaviour. Even if the way this person spoke and acted was unsettling, the creature seemed to show affection and trust him. Even though her senses told her to be cautious, the Pokemon's actions couldn't be completely ignored.]

You though... on your world, what were you?

[ He considers dodging the question but, decides against it. ]

It's complicated.

For a time I was considered a hero. But now... Now there are days when I'm not even entirely sure whether I want to save my world or destroy it.

[ That... doesn't really explain much. He hasn't decided whether he'll try to explain in more detail. ]

[Somehow, he confirmed both her hopes and fears. Still, while on this world, he seemed safe enough... and through everything N had told her, it made sense to trust his Pokemon, at least for now.]

Confusion is fine I think. I do not know your world. But I believe if there are people worth saving, they should be; or at least it is up to heroes to try.

There are those that will protect the Planet with all they have when the time comes.

[ Not him obviously. He's still undecided whether the rest of his world is as bad as Shinra. ]
