[action / partial video] Pinwheel Forest

[ Hazel has decided to move on to Pinwheel Forest. She got some extra supplies and is taking it slow. she hasn't decided whether to really explore or just go right through.

At the moment she's found an empty area and is trying to teach two of her Pokémon Ice beam. Yeah, she's made sure they both want to try first. Cloud is just watching and standing guard since he can't learn that move. ]

Okay, I know the two of you have potential to learn this move with one of those TM things. We're going to see if we can get it down without it.

Now watch carefully.

[ She aims at a nearby rock and manages a passable imitation of an Ice Beam. ]

Give it a try.

[ Yuffie tries first and just gets a squeak for her efforts. Cid snickers at her failure before giving a try himself... and is disappointed when nothing happens. ]

It's alright. [ She's doing well at sounding reassuring at least. She finds Pokémon much easier to talk to than people. ] I didn't think it would be that easy.

Okay next... we'll sit quietly. [ She sat and motioned for the Pokémon to sit on either side of her. ] Close your eyes and clear your minds.

Breathe in... and out. In... out.

[ While her Pokémon were doing that Hazel set the camera on her Xtranceiver to record without broadcasting... or she tried not to broadcast. Maybe she should have double checked how to do that. Oops. [video-->] Yuffie kept fidgeting and peeking over at Cid... who was actually doing okay. ]

Now search within yourselves for your potential. Breathe in... and out. When you think you've found it... Breathe in, grab hold of it... and breathe out.

[ Yuffie took a minute trying to follow Hazel's directions but, lost patience before she actually got a hold of it and just tried the move again. She got another squeak for her efforts but, her breath might have been slightly cold. She pouted and watched Cid, hoping he'd fail just as much so she wouldn't feel stupid.

Cid waited until he thought he had a hold of it, breathed in.... and burped out a snowflake.

Hazel couldn't help it. She giggled. And then went about making sure her Pokémon understood just how well they did for a first try and then gave out cuddles. ]

(( OOC: I'd prefer to say she got through the part where she demonstrated with her magic without anyone seeing since Cloud would warn if someone was coming... Except for N maybe since he already knows. ))

Cloud might be giving a warning soon actually, as two pokemon are running (or at least fast walking) in Hazel's direction. What looks to be a Golett and an Audino fleeing for their lives are now tearing through bush and branch alike in an attempt to escape -something-, but the question now is what that -something- is.

It could also be a question of 'where is your trainer' though, because these are hardly native species after all.

Cloud placed himself protectively between Hazel and the oncoming Pokémon before she even heard them coming. That warning was the only reason she had time to stand and peer in the direction uncertainly by the time they came into sight.

She didn't do much more than take a few steps back to put some distance between her and whatever else was coming though.

The pokemon find themselves skidding to a stop before looking at each other rather awkwardly and then looking to the pokemon ahead. And then yammering on about something in their language, frantically pointing back...

Something about venipede?

...Why is the ground shaking.

Hazel was definitely unnerved by the ground shaking. She kinda wished she could understand what the Pokémon were saying. Being surprised by a bunch of Venipede was not her idea of fun.

"Eep!" If she was a better climber she'd be halfway up a tree by now. As it was, when the Venipede appeared she did retreat halfway across the clearing. "Cloud!"

She didn't even have to tell him what to use. He just used Confusion on the nearest angry bug.

Well this is no good- as the first two attempt to at least lay a smack-down on the horde that's appeared, a larger group begins to appear with an apparent trainer in their sights-

"R-fFF!" Apparent being the key word when the trainer in question is barking and doing his best to actually tackle the things away himself.

No time to be weirded out by the barking trainer.

"Y-yuffie. Sing." She's looking for somewhere safe to flee to while trying to think.

Cloud's smart enough to handle himself so, she'll just try to concentrate on the other two.

"Cid, Quick attack."

It's not like they're after her so, why is she fighting?

Oh well. Yuffie's Sing only gets a couple of them and Cid's Quick attack just gets one to direct a Screech attack at him.

Cloud is just kinda spamming Confusion and dodging at the moment.

The swarm is indeed whittling down- a few punches from the Golett, a pounding from the Audino... The trainer appears to have been shot down for the count, because he's nowhere to be seen howev...

Er...

With a loud cry of sorts that the pokemon can most certainly understand more than Hazel he charges, and one of the venipede finds itself slammed to the side by a side kick.

"V-Veni... VENIIIIII!!!" Briefly, they look at their options; pokemon and ODD human or...

"Veni veniiiiiIIIII!!" It appears a majority are fleeing now, and any stragglers remaining will not be all that difficult to handle.

Well, at least it looked like Hazel wouldn't have to try to climb a tree.

Yuffie kept taunting one and flying out of reach when it tried to use Poison Tail on her. And... she crashed into a tree branch since she was paying more attention to her taunting than where she was going.

The Venipede took advantage of the opening and knocked Yuffie out.

"Eep! Cid, Quick attack!" Hazel directed the Furret to protect the downed Swablu.

It doesn't take much to drive back the rest of the swarm; when Cid lands that next quick attack the 'leading' venipede is easily downed, and the others seem rather unsure of their options. Catching the looks from other still standing pokemon however, they flee; though the one that Otogi side kicked seems to be gone.

As it is- a computerized X-Transceiver voice speaks, likely reading a text message aloud. "Are you alright?" it asks, as the trainer from before holds out a hand. He's apparently gotten to the point of typing with one hand, since he's still holding and typing with that device. "Sorry; we accidentally disturbed a nest further back in the woods. They seemed intent on chasing us down after that..."

Hazel is not in the habit of taking someone's hand unless she's somehow gotten stuck in a hole. Which she hasn't so...

"Um, I'm fine." No time for greetings. She's making her way to where Yuffie is still on the ground. Just seeing to her Pokémon. He understands, right?

And Cloud is watching Otogi. Closely. Because his trainer is too busy fussing over her injured Swablu to pay attention.

Perhaps Cloud noticed that tail of his too...

"If you need it, I have a few potions... It's my fault after all..."

"It's alright. I have potions." She almost forgot she had them since she almost never uses them. "And like you said. It was an accident." She's just going to awkwardly soothe Yuffie's bumps with a potion and put her back in her Poké ball for now. She's trying to be polite by not bringing up the mute thing.

Cloud saw the tail. He's just not trying to get his trainer to notice. Yet.

Seem's Otogi has caught a rare break then. Sighing, he smiles. "Phew... That's good. I'm Otogi by the way- Otogi Ryuuji." That name is probably in reverse...

She totally wouldn't have thought to introduce herself. What is being social?

"I'm Hazel." Just gonna look around to be sure there aren't any more angry bugs around before she'll relax a little. "Um, are you alright? You were right among the chaos there..."

Cloud's just gonna sit next to his trainer. Watching you. And Cid is... around somewhere.

"I'm fine. A little bite from earlier, but I'm otherwise fine." So he says with a smile.

"Oh, okay. If you're sure." She wasn't really. Venipede were poisonous after all. But, she wasn't sure whether he'd feel it by now if he was poisoned.

"Um. We were going to move on but, now I think we're going to rest here for a while longer instead." Awkward shuffling of her feet. "You can stay and rest too if you want I guess."

"So long as I'm not intruding," he responds with a slightly bowed head. "Ah... These two are my partners," he adds, the other two waving or greeting in their own way. "Golett," he types, gesturing to the calm one, "And Audino."

"It's fine. Um, this is Cloud," she says, pointing at the Espeon. Cloud gives a little nod in greeting. He pretty much decided Otogi doesn't mean any harm so he'll let him be.

Looking around for the Furret who is just sniffing around the clearing now. "That's Cid and Yuffie is resting in her Poké ball."

She'll just find a good spot to sit and dig through her bag for some snacks or something.

He bows his head somewhat in greeting, still smiling. "Pleased to meet you all," he responds. "So- are you heading toward the bridge as well then?"

"Yeah," Hazel mutters, still digging through the bag. "Not in any hurry though." She can't really handle constant travel. Rest stops are frequent for her.

She eventually finds her poffin case and a box of cookies.

"Would you like some cookies?" she offers.

"Ah-"

Before he can respond, there's an audino bolting over before sitting 'politely', Golett shaking her head and following.

WELL THE OTHERS CLEARLY DO- "Aha... I'd love some!" ....Ohgoodness though the poffins look so much better-

Hazel directs her attention to the pokémon. "Would you like poffins instead?" she asks politely. Audino at least seems pretty enthusiastic about cookies but, Hazel has enough of both them and poffins to offer the option.

Cloud sits next to Hazel and waits patiently for his poffin. And Cid is meandering over unhurriedly for one too.

Audino seems to stare at the poffin for some time- he's not quite used to actually having these things available, you see.

"AWWWWW YESSSSSS!!" ...So says the Audino with a loud cheer that sounds more like 'AAAAAAAUUUUU DI!'

Golett, in the meantime, quietly nods as her trainer comes to take a seat.

Wow, Pokémon really seemed to enjoy poffins. Do the trainers that haven't signed up for breeding even have poffin cases? She supposed they were kind of a rare treat for their Pokémon if they didn't.

As she hands out poffins to all the Pokémon she's pondering whether to try to find something to put them in to give Otogi for later. She did have some that weren't good for what she was going for with her Pokémon's condition but, were still tasty...

"So, have you been challenging the gyms?" she asks conversationally while offering the box of cookies to the other trainer.

He- He'll try to share the ones they're given, really-!!

"We have," he types, focusing on the cookies and taking the box with a polite bow. "We're aiming for the Insect Badge next."

"That's good." Her expression turns slightly sad. "I don't think I can handle intense battles like that though." It's why she's doing the breeding thing.

Hmm, maybe she has an empty box from something. She'll just dig it out of her bag and wrap some poffins in a napkin before putting them in the box. He can figure out what she's going to do with them, right?

Giving them away is better than carrying them around until they get stale after all.

"Um, here," she offers the box with a small smile. "For later." There were six poffins inside.

"Ah.." P-Poffins! ~~Enough for each to have two!~~

He takes the box, nodding. "Thank you very much! I'll save them for the trip on the bridge." Ohhh, the others look excited at that-

Audino (with full mouth) is actually rushing over to get ready to leave.

"You're welcome." She's just glad someone is going to enjoy them.

"Leaving already?" She wasn't really disappointed. He seemed nice enough but, she wanted some privacy to finish taking care of Yuffie's bumps. "I think I'm going to stay here for a while."

It was a nice spot when there weren't angry bugs stomping around. Maybe she'd spend the night too.

Hahhh...

He stands. "Unfortunately as it seems. It looks like someone can't wait for the bridge now," he adds, dry tone almost seeming to tinge the words on the screen.

"Thank you for the poffins; perhaps we will run into each other again," he adds with a smile.

"Well, I don't want to delay you," she says sincerely... and maybe a bit sheepishly. Hopefully they wouldn't push themselves too hard just because they were eager to have more snacks. "It was nice meeting you. Have a safe trip."

"You too," he responds with a wave.

And as the Transceiver carries that along he turns, leaving with the others through the bushes into the remainder of the woods.
