[The nearest person happens to be the Doctor, who looks up from his close inspection of the opposite wall to offer a slight shrug.]
Well, I s'pose so! That is what exploring usually involves, yeah?

[He reaches into the pocket of his coat and retrieves... a pair of what appear to be 3D glasses. After he has them on, he returns to his examination of the wall.] Granted, this is more of an excavation than an exploration, given the letter that Lenora woman sent out... And she said what we were looking for would be at the lowest level of this place. So we are meant to get to the bottom of things-- Quite literally! [He looks up briefly to give another grin, then returns to the wall. The Kirlia at his heels rolls her eyes.]

But, really, I don't see the harm in poking around just a bit. Seem to be interesting enough things right where we are now!

[Dave watches the Doctor without saying anything for a moment, looking skeptical that this dude even exists. At the attempt at a pun the corner of his mouth twitches upward -- oh, right, ha. Bottom of things. He looks down at the Kirlia briefly, then back to the Doctor.]

Right, the ancient graffiti and shit. [He pulls away from the wall and puts on an expression of intense, thoroughly sarcastic interest as he studies the wall himself.] Cool glasses, by the way, bro. Got a pair like that back home, wear them to 2D movies. Confuses the hell out of people.

Oh, yes! Very complex graffiti, mind you-- whole history written here, seems like. [The Kirlia has to step aside to avoid the Doctor's coattails as he begins pacing back and forth along the wall, staring closely at the etchings.] Ahh, I saw one of these outside! [He delicately traces an image distinctly of a Sigilyph with his fingertips.] And they've been around all this time. [Guardians, judging by the images. Dedication. He could tell from the games that Pokemon were important to the world, but this fleshes out things quite a bit.

He only looks up at the mention of the glasses. For a moment, he seems to reexamine Dave, looking at him in the same way he did the wall. After coming to some conclusion, he lifts them from his eyes and laughs.] Oh, I should try that! But, you know, I think it's always good to see things a bit differently. Very useful, these things. Haven't thought to use them in a long time... [He folds the glasses and slips them back into his pocket.

With that done, he holds out his hand.] Oh, and I'm the Doctor, by the way! And that's Donna. [He nods to the Kirlia, who gives a little wave in greeting.] I'm a bit of a traveller-- not from around here, I mean. I would have thought you'd be in the same predicament, but you don't seem too rattled by all this at all! Don't s'pose you're from here, are you?

[He puts his hand up to his mouth to hold back a snicker at the Doctor's expense. Leaning forward, he tries to see what in particular caught the Doctor's attention -- a Sigilyph? He doesn't quite get why the Doctor seems impressed, but looking at the image means he doesn't realize he's being examined.] Uh, useful? I mean, this isn't a 3D image or anything, dude. Did they help?

[He looks up when the Doctor extends a hand, and with a skeptical smile, he shakes it.] Cool, Doc. [A little salute towards the Kirlia.] Donna. I'm Dave. And, uh, no. Nope, I'm from... well, Sinnoh originally, but I was in Johto when I got kidnapped or whatever. Really inconvenient, you know? I'm supposed to be getting ready to battle Chuck in Cianwood -- although to be honest it's going to be a cakewalk. Atticus -- my Alakazam -- he'll tear those fuckers apart.

[Woops, derailed. He scratches his head and shrugs.] Anyway. I'm pretty pissed off that they stole my team, but... yeah, I'm not too worried about it. Where are you from?

'Course they did! At least, they confirmed a few things... [He retrieves the glasses from his pocket again, brandishing them emphatically.] See, these are a bit more than 3D glasses! S'pose I could use them if I wanted to see a 3D film, but the secondary function might make things a bit... fuzzy. 'Specially here.

[But enough about that!] Dave, then! Good to meet you! [And it seems like Dave here is a bit of a battle enthusiast.] Chuck, eh? That one of those... gym leader people? [Sinnoh, Johto... This world's more expansive than the games he played had him believing! He frowns.] That's a shame-- I'm sure it'll be a spectacular battle to have when you get back! [He still firmly believes everyone taken here will wind up back home one way or another, against his better judgement.] And even if you're not from this particular area, you've still got some Pokemon experience! This has got to be a breeze for you! This is my first try, you know-- I think I'm doing pretty well, considering! [He looks approvingly down at Donna, who gives him a bit of a unconvinced look.

At the question, he grins, absently turning the 3D glasses over in his hands.] Oh, me? Ahh, you know, just... around. All over the place.

Oh, right, cool. [He furrows his brow and looks closely at the glasses, trying to figure out what the Doctor could possibly be talking about.] Could I... try 'em on? [As an eyewear aficionado -- his collection of glasses and shades is outclassed only by his collection of hats -- he is eager to experience a pair that alters your vision somehow. Maybe they have a virtual HUD or something! That would be sweet.

He nods absently when the Doctor asks about Chuck.] Yeah, he's a gymleader; fifth gym, Fighting type. [He frowns and gives the Doctor a quizzical look.] I guess it's a breeze. I'm just trying to figure out who stole my team, you know? I mean, fuck, I don't even mind being in Unova that much.

[He scowls and puts his hands in his pockets. His Pokebros, man! THEY ARE MISSING. After a second he brightens -- idea!] Oh, hey, if you need any help with Pokemon stuff, let me know! I guess you're one of those dudes from another world or something? Or did you just not keep Pokemon 'til now? Either way, I know Pokemon, man.

[He smiles and holds the unfolded glasses out.] Sure. Have a look around. [Unfortunately, they're not quite as exciting as a virtual HUD. Instead, they just seem to make everything a bit blurry. But, if he takes a glance at the Doctor-- or his own hand-- he should see a gathering of greenish particles spiraling about. (Like so (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VeDRzHUvgs&feature=related)!) There are traces of the same particles on certain parts of the wall etchings as well.

The Doctor takes a step back, grinning expectantly.] That's right-- other world. Just passing through. Seen Pokemon before, but never been a trainer-- not a real one, at least. Never had the chance, I s'pose. [He laughs a little. He's clearly been enjoying himself, despite the circumstances.] So-- yes! If I've got any questions, you'll be the first I'll ask! [Or was that supposed to be that Miror B. fellow...? Ahh, he can ask both.]

[Dave turns the glasses this way and that in his hands. They seem pretty normal. With a shrug, he puts them on and looks up.]

Oh, weird. [He leans side to side, grinning, and wiggles his fingers in front of his face.] That is super cool, man! Why does it do that? [He turns around slowly, shaking his head to maximize the swirliness.] Dude, this is so trippy. [When he faces the wall again he stops and leans forward, squinting at the etchings.] Oh, okay, the wall has it too, I guess. [He laughs and takes off the glasses, handing them somewhat reluctantly back to the Doctor.] Thanks for that.

You're just... passing through? That is sick; you just go wherever you feel like? [Clearly this is an impressive notion. Fuck the police and all that.] So what are you doing here then? This shit is pretty lame, they just want us to find some stone for them.

[He nods, looking thoroughly amused.] That's right-- basically! And you see these... [He takes the glasses and gives them a little wave.] They detect void stuff, see-- background radiation from traversing to and from separate universes. You saw we're covered in it! As for the wall, I'm not about to say it was running around through the Void by itself-- could just be residue, or perhaps it was carried through somehow...

[His face falls as he gives a slight scowl.] ... That's not exactly a good thing. [Despite his enthusiasm oops.] Really, it should be impossible... But here we are! [He pockets the glasses.] Guess that's part of why I'm here-- to set things straight, figure out the mystery, you know. Adventure! And this little excavation here seems like as good a place as any to start at! Because it's not just any old stone we're looking for, is it? If it was, they wouldn't be making such a fuss about it!

Void stuff. Okay. [He is trying to keep up! Dave nods eagerly along with the entire description, until the Doctor changes tone and, accordingly, Dave shakes his head.] Right. Not good. Impossible. That's pretty intense stuff, man! [He looks suitably impressed. This guy talks a mean technobabble, and Dave is all too happy to believe every word of it. It's just really cool, you know? Way cooler than trudging through this old castle at the behest of some lazy gymleaders.

He ponders the Doctor's opinion on the stone for a moment and shrugs.] Yeah, I guess. I dunno -- I don't know much about Unovan legends, but weird stones and orbs and shit like that almost always have something to do with a Legendary. Like, uh; in Sinnoh, there're these two orbs that summon Dialga and Palkia? And...! [He holds up a finger dramatically. Admire his powers of recall!] In Hoenn they've got the, like, Red and Blue Orbs? And one other one, for Rayquaza. [He pauses, frowning.] Right, so those are all orbs and this is a stone, but, still. Thousand Poké says it has something to do with a Legendary.

[He just keeps on grinning.] You have no idea. I've only considered using those glasses once before-- ages ago! It's-- It's unheard of! [Which he probably should be upset or worried about. Instead, he's just fascinated.

And even more so at the mention of legendaries.] Oh, yes, of course! A man calling himself a "Subway Boss" told me a bit of the legend: a dragon that split itself in two... [His eyebrows arch.] Good thinking-- very good. Molto bene! [He glances down past the campsite, then along the walls again.] Now, if so much is chronicled in these glyphs, there's got to be a bit of a hint about these stones somewhere, hm?

No shit, man, a Subway Boss? Which one? [There are trainers who idolize gymleaders and the Elite Four, and then there are trainers who idolize the masters of a different kind of battling: the gimmicks and the challenges of taking things less seriously. Dave is of the latter kind, and so he is well versed on all the figures of non-League battle champs: a group which includes, among others, Frontier Brains and Subway Bosses. He shakes his head in disbelief.] You didn't actually reach them on the subway, did you? [Dave has a lot of trouble believing that a first-time trainer could possibly have battled up the ranks of an institute like the Subway.] 'Cause, uh... Yeah.

[Molto bene? Whatevs, Dave grins at the fact that he was helpful.] Yeah, man, it's always Dragons messing up shit. To be honest, I don't really dig Dragons, they're so... [mainstream] ...I don't know, OP. [He scratches his head and looks at the walls again at the Doctor's suggestion.] Maybe? I mean, probably. Is that what you think we should do, then? Try and figure out these doodles? I'm pretty sure everyone else is just gonna... go look for it, you know?

I believe he called himself Emmet, yeah. Nice fellow-- good smile. [A seemingly perpetual smile that somehow managed to not be entirely creepy.] Nah, he answered the first message I sent out on this. [He raises his wrist to show the Xtransceiver.] I had a few questions, and he answered them. [A beat.] Listen, these... Subway Bosses. Are they well-known? Battling on a subway train seems a bit, ah... dangerous, doesn't it? [Even if Emmet said they were completely safe, he can't be sure how truthful that is.

But no matter!] Well... I'm thinking maybe these doodles might lead us to what we're looking for! Bit of a long shot, but better than nothing! Everyone else seems to be exploring aimlessly, when we can find a hint to work off of. [And so he starts walking the length of the glyphs, hands in his pockets and Donna at his heels.] Even better if there are more in the lower levels. Speaking of, how exactly do you get to the lower levels? Don't s'pose they expect us to fall through those sand pits to get there?

Ha! Oh man, that is too cool. [Oh gosh, that means Emmet -- and maybe Ingo, too? -- might even be nearby! ~So cool.~] Are they well-known? 'Course they're well known! They're the Subway Bosses. Unova doesn't have a Battle Frontier yet, right? But they have these subways, which, I dunno, they're almost cooler. [A few seconds to consider the verity of that statement. A nod. Yep, almost.] Are they dangerous? I mean... I've never been on it before, but... no? Dude, I dunno, as far as I know they don't ban any moves so if those trains can take an Earthquake on a regular basis -- which I'm sure they do -- they can take anything.

[Well that was all very exciting to talk about. By comparison, the wall etchings are highly disappointing. But he has to admit that the idea makes sense. So, with a sigh, Dave steps up to a rather complex panel, and frowns when he can't make much sense out of it.] Oh -- there's a staircase, pretty sure. Somewhere. To the second level at least.

Yeah, he said something about them being tested with the strongest attacks they could find? [He gives a slight shrug.] Like I told him, must be some pretty impressive trains they've got. I can see why you think they're cool! Still, I think they'd have some trouble with motion sickness, at the very least. [With all that dizzying flight in the TARDIS he does, he'd probably be a natural at dealing with battle on the Subway, but there are others to worry about. The idea's just a bit unthinkable at the moment.]

A staircase! Well, that's convenient, isn't it? [Can't be too far, then! He continues walking, looking at the panels as he goes.] Now, the letter from Nacrene... It said something about reports made by trainers who visited this place. Do you know anything about what they could have been reporting?

Motion sickness is the wild card, man! Gotta have a wild card. In the Battle Frontier they've literally got this roulette wheel thing that, like, afflicts your party with status effects and shit. It's insane!

[He thoughtfully pokes a small image of a Yamask and shakes his head at the question.] Nah, sorry, man. I mean, if trainers are making reports it's not because of the normal stuff like traps and ghosts, that shit is par for the course. I guess it'd be good to know what they were reporting about, though. [Dave stretches, stifling a yawn. More Yamasks on the wall. Oh, hey, a Cofagrigus! Cool.] Don't wanna be cursed or anything. Legendaries can be vindictive fuckers.
