[Out in a spot in Striaton's garden, a boy and his Purrloin are spending the afternoon at play. Kariya's bag is sitting in the grass, and, all around it, he's dumped out a seemingly random assortment of items and trinkets of varying value and utility. Suisei is having a fine time dashing around them, batting at them here and there or nudging them together into a miniature hoard.]

Good, Suisei! Come on, come and get it -

[And Kariya has one particularly attractive piece clasped in hand. He's dangling it so that the feline Pokémon can chase and leap after it. Suisei goes up onto two legs to try and seize the item with his paws, then dashes around his trainer's legs to make a leap for it...making Kariya have to tumble onto the ground, scrambling away to keep a hold on the makeshift toy.

He's laughing as he barely yanks it away from the Purrloin.]

Ha-hah, close, but you need to be even faster...!

[Such an innocent scene.

Though, it's possible that anyone in Kariya's traveling group might recognize what's in his hand or all over the grass around them. Given that, you know, they are all things Purrloin's swiped from people's bags, since they got into Striaton. They're celebrating what a great, little thief Kariya's starter is.]

Oh -

[Kariya looks up from his sprawled out position on the grass, surprise briefly flickering across his face. But then it's gone, and he's smiling in a way that's positively angelic.

Obviously, all of these things are his, and there's nothing suspicious about any of them at all.]

Mmhm! Suisei likes turning different things into his toys, so...

"So I see. Purrloin are good at that."

Code for- 'i know where he got them too.'

It would appear he's picked the less responsible of his options and gone with his instincts to mess with you instead Kariya. Oh no.

He's definitely great at finding cool stuff.

[The defender's smile doesn't dim at all, though maybe it becomes more of a grin. If this is going to be a game of mutual messing-with, he's not giving up early!]

[puppypaws]

"And quick too I'd imagine. I don't think a boy with a pendant like that would go unnoticed too long..!~"

Wait what are you saying Otogi are you saying he'd get caught??

Well, it's Suisei's, anyway. We'll put it up somewhere when he's done playing with it.

[Shrug! Kariya's not planning to hold onto most of the loot, anyway, since who knows what someone might actually need? So, he'll give it back, when people notice...

Unless there are a few select things Suisei really wants to keep.]

"Ehshshshshhs..!" Otogi make your laugh less creepy.

"In the exact place you found it?" Otogi plz-

Mm. Maybe.

[He'll just...lean back a little, intentionally looking as nonchalant as possible. That laugh wasn't off-putting at all. Nope. Totally not.]

[Don't mind Kirino, he'll just be casually swiping his stuff back from the area around.

Accompanied by a growling Poochyena, naturally.]

Careful now, you two. Pochi here might end up... acquiring a taste for thieves.

[Kariya pouts when he notices the other defender creeping around the area, but he doesn't move to get up from where he's flopped on his back on the grass.

Suisei's less sanguine about giving everything back, though. He makes a hasty, little dash to the next nearest item of Kirino's and retreats back towards his trainer with the thing in his mouth. And another snagged on the way, clasped in his front paws.

They're his now :p]

Hmm. Aren't guard dogs supposed to catch thieves before they can take things, Kirino-senpai?

[Pochi chashes after Suisei, barking and tackling the Purrloin.]

I haven't trained him to be a guard dog, Kariya... yet. Though if this keeps up, I just might.

... And technically, he's a hyena.

You should be glad we gave him the practice, then.

[Suisei lets the item in his paws drop, so he can leap out of the way of that tackle and finish scampering to Kariya's side. Both Pochi and Kirino get jeered at, once he's climbed his way up to his (now upright) trainer's shoulders.]

Hmf, he doesn't take a joke that well, does he? It's like that thing about dogs starting to look like their owners...

[Suisei just gets an unimpressed look from both Poochyena and trainer, as Pochi picks up the dropped item and carries it back over to Kirino.]

I heard that it's the same way for all pets. [A pause, during which both Kariya and the Purrloin get a look.] And he's even more of a buzzkill than I am. Somehow.

Gross.

[Kariya says cheerily, while reaching up to scratch behind his Purrloin's ears. He is so proud of the little guy, you don't even know.]

That will only make him an easy target for pranks, though. You should be careful.

... He also has a nasty tendency to retaliate. So might be a good idea to watch that.

[As much as that cat Pokémon annoys Kirino, he doesn't want it to get bitten by Pochi.

... If only because there'd probably be war after that, needless to say.

Kirino makes a gesture to the item the Purrloin's holding in its mouth with a sigh.] Can I have that back, please?

We can take care of ourselves.

[The meeeeow Suisei gives seems to be roughly equivalent to a "Yeah!" He drops the swiped article into his paws, while looking quizzically to his trainer.

Kariya, of course, just looks like he's thinking about it way too carefully.]

...is it something important?

[Whether that's going to increase or decrease the likelihood of Kirino getting it back without a big to-do is anyone's guess.]

Yes, Kariya. [The tone is a weary one that probably suggests that Kirino's not in the mood for anyone's BS right now.]

[Gosh, so grumpy. And he was having such a good time, a few minutes ago...

Of course, that means he takes the thing from Suisei's paws...and promptly slides it into one pocket.]

I'll give it back when Suisei's done playing with it, then.

... Kariya, please give it to me now; he's not even playing with it if it's in your pocket. I'm really, really not in the mood for this.

[He seems almost tired.]

[The first-year frowns and keeps fingering the swiped item but doesn't move to pull it back out. Kirino is getting a scrutinizing look.]

...What are you so pissy about, today?

[He barely stifles a yawn and glances away.]

Woke up in a bad mood. That's all.

You can go back to bed, you know. It's not like we have school or practice scheduled, while we're here.

[Really, they haven't been nearly irresponsible enough for a bunch of teenagers left to their own devices. Sleeping in is the least they can do.

[Kariya is pointedly ignoring the Poochyena, save for a slight roll of the eyes at it and its trainer. (Suisei makes up for that by giving a loud hiiiissss down at the puppy.)]

Well, excuse me for getting frustrated with someone who stole my stuff. Or had their Purrloin do it, whatever.

[The Poochyena starts barking in response to the hiss, at that point, Kirino returns the hyena to its Pokéball and rubbing his temples.]

[Sigh.

Suisei is busy looking smug as Pochi goes back into his ball, but Kariya finally tugs the last of their ill-gotten gains from his pocket and tosses it in the other boy's direction.]

He was just having fun. I think it's like cats back home hunting --

We were going to give it all back after this, anyway.

[Most of it. Probably.]

[Kirino catches it and sighs, putting it in his bag.]

... Sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you. Anyway, I wanted to ask you a question.

Forget it.

[They'll just play with everyone else's stuff, for now. (Even if Kirino does seem to have been Suisei's prime target.)]

It was mostly going to be for exploration's sake, but it might be good training there...!

[Kariya shrugs, before laying back out again, Suisei scampering off to find a new favorite prize.]

I haven't been over there yet.

[Well, that was definitely a shriek behind you, Kariya - seems Hayami's Misdreavus noticed her trainer's belongings in that stash of yours.

Of course that gets Hayami running over!]

D-did you find my glasses, Muma-chan --

[... And he tripped.]

[Ugh, he knows that shriek. He had sort of been hoping that swiping Hayami's spectacles would keep him and his team from going hunting around, but apparently that would've required too much common sense...?

So, he'll just crawl over to peep down at his teammate, tone all faux-concern.]

Hayami-senpai, should you be going around without your glasses on?

[At least the glasses are sitting safe on top of his bag. Kariya would feel bad if they actually broke or something.]
