[video] Lostlorn Forest - Event fuuuun
[ Early morning somewhere with a lot of trees. There is really only one reason Hazel turned the feed on. And that reason is to show how her idea of riding Zack is going. Seems to be going well since all it's showing is a blur of the scenery. She speaks but, the words aren't heard over the wind.
They seem to be having a lot of fun. Well, until something causes Zack to suddenly skid to a stop. Unfortunately Hazel isn't able to hold on and she goes flying. When her tumble ends the camera is facing her Arcanine. He's in a sort of bowing position with an Eevee in front of his nose. It looks like he barely managed to stop in order to avoid trampling it.
The Eevee has it's paws over its eyes for a moment but, it moves them when Hazel groans. It looks relieved to not be trampled and a bit concerned now that it sees that someone is hurt. ]
Ow.
[ And Zack quickly gets up and heads over to his trainer followed by the Eevee. The camera shifts as Hazel tries to pick herself up. She hisses in pain but, manages a sitting position. ]
I-I'm okay... [ Even her big goof of an Arcanine can tell that's a lie and he whines worriedly. Hazel forces a weak smile. ] I guess... [ She winces when she moves her arm. ] ...I guess we shouldn't have been going so fast.
[ And then someone else speaks. ]
You should have known better.
[ In her surprise Hazel doesn't think and tries to turn towards the voice. Instead she winces and settles for turning just her head. ]
Mom!?
[ A woman comes into view. Her face vaguely resembles Hazel's but, her hair is more auburn and she's almost a half foot taller. And she's scowling disdainfully. ]
Honestly Hazel. You should be able to handle yourself better by now. Have you not been studying at 'all'?
[ Hazel hesitates. Is that guilt on her face or something else? Zack whines worriedly and the Eevee hides behind him. It doesn't like the nasty way the weird woman is speaking.]
Mom, I...
Don't make excuses. You've just been too busy playing with these silly animals to do what you're supposed to.
But...
I said no excuses.
[ Zack does not like the way this stranger is speaking to his trainer one bit and he growls warningly. He is ignored. ]
Now get rid of these ridiculous distractions and catch up to your studies or you may as well not bother coming home.
[ Hazel chokes on a sob and it's the last straw for Zack. He lunges with a Fire Fang attack before Hazel can even think to protest. Although she does have time to scream just before it connects... ]
(( OOC: Her injuries include bruises, a cracked rib and a broken wrist. She can't heal it all the way because of the power limit and because she's feeling awful from... stuff obviously. Also, her mom isn't really like that. Just Hazel's fears about being a disappointment being rather harshly voiced by unreasonable dream logic thing. ))

Are you okay, Hazel?
[She's gotta be tough. Iris can't let herself get weak.]
Of course I should have known you can't even control these stupid things!
[ That it's continuing to put her down even while being attacked is a sign that something is off. It's trying to attack the Arcanine of course but, it's not really doing much besides making Zack try harder to rip it apart. Which... Hazel's mom, even weakened here, would have no trouble at all with disabling the large canine. ]

H-Hazel-san? Oi, Hazel-san!

Useless child! Such a waste of sixteen years.

It's just the truth, boy. Mind your own business. I'll say whatever I wish to her.
[ In the back of her mind Hazel realizes something isn't right. Perhaps it's the nastiness or perhaps it's that the illusion is having trouble dealing with the giant fire dog but, she's starting to notice how unlike her mother it actually is. She's just really upset and in pain and unable to react in a particularly coherent manner right now. ]
Mom? [ Though it was barely audible over the growling of the Pokémon and nasty words of the illusion, Hazel's uncertainty is still clear. ]

What kind of mom says that kind of stuff to their own kid?

One who is very disappointed!
[ There is the sound of a Pokémon coming out of a Poké ball but, Hazel didn't let him out.(not that you can tell since she's out of view at the moment) the Xtransceiver is dropped to the ground as the woman/illusion holding it is tossed aside by a Psychic attack from Cloud. It lands at an angle to show Hazel cradling her wrist and squeezing her eyes shut. The wild Eevee is hiding behind her with its paws over its eyes. Scary lady is scary but, it doesn't want to run away. ]

[There's a gasp as the visual feed from the Xtransciever changes once again, but then he growls and sets his mouth in a stern line.]
You're...you're just a bully!
[...Sorry Hazel, he's just ten.]
...Something isn't right.
[ Her shock is wearing off a bit and she's not quite believing what she's watching. She could believe that her mother was here. She could believe that her mother was disappointed that she hasn't been studying. But... Not once has her mother said such nasty things to her outside her own nightmares. And the big thing is... her 'mother', who has been studying powerful spells for almost two hundred years, appears to be losing against the Pokémon. Still, she can't shake the uncertainty. ]
...Not mom?
Real moms wouldn't say stuff like that! [A naive and adorable thought, but it works in this case.]
Cloud... Last Resort.
[ Zack backs off slightly when his trainer gives Cloud that quietly spoken order. You can't see the exact result of the attack since he ended up blocking most of the view but, once it's over he moves over to his trainer and you can see that the woman is gone. Cloud joins them after a moment. ]
Ne...Hazel-san? Are you alright?
...I guess I am.
[ There is a faint glow as she tries to heal her wrist but, her concentration isn't the best and she doesn't get far before she stops. ]
['I guess' doesn't sound like a good enough response for him, Hazel.]
[ She doesn't sound very sure of that. And since she left most of her supplies behind in a camp so Zack wouldn't have to carry them on their run she's going to have to get up to go back there. ]
Ugh... Zack.
[ He manages to help her stand without aggravating her injuries and then crouches down so she can get on his back. He sets off at a walk with Cloud and the Eevee following close behind. ]
[Your grunting doesn't make him feel much better, Hazel.]
[ She sounds listless. Perhaps it could be written off as her being tired and aching. She's still not really used to having to deal with lingering injuries after all. But she's still thinking of the things the illusion said. ]
[He wants to make sure you're okay later, okay?]
[ Oh look, her camp with a couple more of her Pokémon out guarding her stuff. It wasn't really that far. It's gonna take her a few days at least to heal herself completely so... ]
I'm just gonna take it easy here for a while.
[ One of these days they will meet in person and she'll have to give him a hug for being so sweet. ]
Bye.
[ She gives a small smile before she ends the feed. She'll be extra sure to take care of herself to keep from making him worry too much. ]
