[ Hazel is resting with Cloud half in her lap and her new Arcanine friend is sitting next to her carefully trying to nudge his face in front of her to have a look at the Xtransceiver without pushing or squishing her. ]

I know people use Pokémon to fly to cities or cross water and I know some people use them to pull caravans but, I haven't seen anyone just ride them on land. It's not taboo or something is it?

I'm... not really adjusting well to traveling on foot so I thought maybe...

[ She trails off, not sure what else to add. The huge fluffy Pokémon trying to be nosy is relevant to current topic as he's more than big enough for her to ride if she decides to try it. Since she's taking a very long time to save enough money for her own caravan there's a good chance of that. ]

Seems like it should be fine to me! Why would it be taboo?

I've never seen anyone do it. I could just not be looking at the right times I guess. [ The Arcanine has managed to get an eye in position to look at the screen without pushing Hazel and is peering at you. ] It doesn't seem like this one would mind at least. [ she'll give the giant puppy an ear scratch since his head is right there. ]

If they don't mind, I don't see why it'd be wrong! I get tired walking around too.

[And he just started.]

I guess I'd just feel mortified if I get stared at if it's a weird thing to do... [ Giant puppy seems to realize she's starting to feel awkward so, cuddle time! Except... he's huge so he kinda knocks her over. ]

Eep! [ She flails a little then wraps her arms around the Arcanine's neck. The Xtransceiver is kind of buried in fur now so, that's all you see. ]

You big silly. [ Said fondly and a little muffled by the fluff. ]

[Laughs.]

Well, he doesn't seem to mind!

[ The Xtransceiver is pulled out of the fluff. She's half lying on him while giving him ear rubs by now. ]

I don't think he'd mind much of anything. He's really sweet.

[ The Arcanine turns his head and gives Hazel a nudge and an encouraging bark. Kind of saying 'Come on. Try it. It'll be fun.' She hesitates though. ]

Heeh...I don't think I've ever really thought about it, Hazel-san. But if your Pokemon don't object to it, there shouldn't be a problem, right?

It just seems weird to try when I've never seen anyone do it. Maybe they don't tire as easily as I do. [ Her Arcanine clearly wouldn't mind. In fact he seems like he's trying to urge her to try it now. Like it would be the most fun thing ever. She hasn't tried to figure out if her Rapidash would mind yet.]

Mn, I guess I can see why that would feel a little awkward...but if you feel like you need to, you can try it...

[He looks lost in thought himself on the subject.]

I suppose it might not be any weirder than having them pull a caravan... [ She considers the giant puppy that is nudging her. ] ...Sort of seems like this big silly would actually enjoy it. [ A bark that sounds like confirmation that he would. She'll give him an ear scratch but, isn't really ready to jump up and try anything else yet. ]

Looks like he likes you a lot, Hazel-san! [And then a giggle. It looks so cool!]

Yeah. He seems really attached already. [ She hasn't had him long but, now he spends almost as much time out and being cuddly as Cloud. ] Was kinda scary meeting him the first time though. [ He'll just nudge her some more and give her puppy eyes. He didn't mean to be scary. Honest. ]

Mmm, well he is kind of big, I can imagine that...it's good that you're friends now!

[ Since she's clearly not going to drop her conversation yet the Arcanine will flop down next to Hazel and rest his nose on her knee. ]

Yeah, I'm lucky I wasn't squished when he decided pouncing me was the best way to say hello. He kinda caught himself after that. I'm glad he did though. He's a great friend.

Is that how you met? [And more giggling.] Well, that's different... [Much more preferable as to how he met three out of four of his Pokemon, anyway...]

Yeah. I was getting a camp ready when he came along and I was really intimidated and I guess he thought a pounce-cuddle was the best way to make me not scared. [ It worked well enough once she noticed he wasn't hurting her and she realized that the giant fluffy puppy just wanted a friend. ]

He sounds nice...what's his name, anyway?

His name is Zack. [ Moving the Xtransceiver so Zack can see the screen better. ] Say hello to Subaru. [ Zack lets out a small bark and wags his tail a bit while peering at the screen. Slightly disappointed that it's a video and not in person because Subaru looks like he wouldn't mind a playful pounce. ]

Hehe, hi there, Zack! [You get a wave, playful thing.] What kind of Pokemon is he?

He's an Arcanine. A fire type. Um... I don't think they're usually found wild though. [ She can only guess that he either came across a Fire Stone while he was still a Growlithe or someone released him. He listens well enough that it was probably the former. ] The Pokémon they evolve from are though.

Did you get him when all those Pokemon were running around a while ago? We saw a lot of Pokemon that we haven't seen since...

Yeah. That sort of explains it I guess. [ It just doesn't explain why a bunch of Pokémon were running around places they're not usually found. ]

Heeeh, what a lucky encounter that was!

Really lucky... Just what I needed in a way. [ She needed a way to travel without tiring herself out while she saves for a caravan. She has a Rapidash too but, she probably would have taken longer to think to try riding a Pokémon if she hadn't ended up staring at a huge one while she was tired. ]

And maybe you're just what he needs too.

[And a grin.]

I don't think I've ever really been needed by anyone before. [ She looks at Zack. He wags his tail in response. He was an open and friendly sort but, thinking back he seemed more lost and lonely before he decided to pounce her. Would he have been happy with just anyone? She gets a nudge and a lick because of the uncertain look on her face. She smiles hesitantly. ] Maybe... He seems to think so.

Well, I bet you two will be good friends from now on because of that, yeah?

It's likely. [ Probably even more likely than she thinks. Good thing Cloud doesn't seem to be jealous. He's been partly in Hazel's lap during this whole conversation and didn't so much as twitch when Zack nudged at her. ] I think Cloud likes him too. [ Two hands, two Pokémon. Yep, the Xtransceiver's getting dropped so she can give them both ear scratches at the same time. At least the sky is pretty today 'cause that's what's going to be on the video for at least a minute. ]

[Subaru giggles, and then becomes confused when all he sees is the sky. But, there doesn't seem to be any sounds of danger, so he's patient enough to wait.]

[ And she picks it up again. ]

Ah, sorry about that. Just wanted to give them both some attention for a bit.

[ She's still got Cloud in her lap but by now Zack has curled around her so she's leaning on his side instead of sitting next to her trying to poke his head in. ]

Looks like you have your hands full, ahahah...

Yeah. [ She doesn't mind. They look out for her too. And then the reason she was talking about whether it was weird to ride a Pokémon make itself apparent when she fails to suppress a yawn. ] Mrr... I think maybe I should set up a camp. [ Or at least feed her Pokémon and herself before she falls asleep. ]

Mmn, okay Hazel-san. I shouldn't bother you anymore then. Talk to you later?

Yeah, later. And you're not a bother. Cloud would've been bugging me if I was really too tired to talk for a little while. [ Her Pokémon look after her as much as she looks after them. ]

That's good to know. [A sheepish giggle.] Bye, Hazel-san!

[ She adds a sheepish giggle of her own. Really, she shouldn't need her Pokémon to tell her not to push herself. ] Bye, Subaru. [ And she ends the feed to go feed her Pokémon and then get some sleep. ]
