Sad and confused. [Video]

"H-hi? A-a-are you...? Is there anyone in this thing?"

[A meek voice speaks out, with no visual from the gear. It's tone is fairly high-pitched. The screen suddenly bursts to static that gradually becomes a relatively clear picture. The face of the creature holding the device is not human. Not by a long shot. It's bright red skin, pointed nose, and long, thin teeth would stand out as particularly un-human features to any viewer. However, the expression on it's face is not a scary one, but one of fear.]

"I-I don't kn-know what's happened. They gave me Brother and th-this device, but they didn't... They didn't say where to take it! A-a-and they said the Extralink... The... Th-the thing... It broke... And I don't know what's going on!"

[Tears begin to form in the creature's eyes, it's own sadness only seeming to frighten it more. These feelings were alien to the former Pikmin, who had never quite known the concept of sentience before.]

"Th-the person tried t-to explain it, but... I didn't know what any of it means, a-and... and they said I was wasting the- wasting their time. I don't know where my family is! I'm all alone, and I jus- I just want to go back to th'man with the whistle. I just want to go back to where I belong..."[Red Pikmin #37 sat down on a stump, device still in his hands. An Oddish nudges him gently with its head. He responds by softly stroking its leaves, his sobbing having quieted down quite a bit, at this point it was little more than heavy breathing.]

[Well, this is depressing. Somebody else might be a bit more concerned about the fact that the critter on the screen is in no way, shape, and or form human.]

Woah, little guy, cool your jets for a sec! Pretty sure we can find a dude with a whistle in...

Uh.

[It would probably be better if Paprika actually knew the name of what she's been calling "Pokemon-land". Still, she's trying to be comforting here. Trying.]

[Red Pikmin sniffles.]

"R-really? We... We can find the man with the whistle? We... we can find my leader?"

Yeah, sure! Uh... What's he look like? Y'know, besides the whistle bit.

[The creature wipes tears from his eyes with the sleeve of his sweatshirt, sniffles a bit, and then plucks a blade of grass, no more than an inch long, from the ground.He points to it.]

"He... He's about this tall. A-and he wears a funny white suit, and h-he has a bubble over his head..."

[Give her a second to register that.]

Mmmmm, don't think I've ever seen a guy that small before.

"You haven't... Th-thank you anyway..." [Sniffle]

[Oh, now, what's this? The confusion at his own sudden arrival aside, the Doctor just can't ignore a crying creature, human or inhuman.]
Sssh sssh sssh, now don't do that... [If only he had some better comforting skills.] I can't take you back home-- and I'm very sorry about that-- but everything will be alright. Trust me.

Where is it that you do belong? Can you describe it to me?

[The former Pikmin sniffles and looks down at the device curiously as he heard a voice come from it. The sound of another living being is a small comfort to him. Unfortunately, that comfort doesn't last long, as he hears the Doctor state that he can't be brought back home. Tears soon run down the creature's face one more.] "B-b-but! I want to be where I belong... I want to go back to the man with the whistle..."

[He sniffles a bit and pauses, thinking of how to explain his home to the stranger. Still visibly upset, but the process of thinking distracts him from his own tears.]

"I-It's bigger. E-everything is bigger..."

[He bends over a bit to pluck up a blade of grass from the ground.]

"Where I belong... This is bigger. Taller than me. And there are more of my brothers. Brothers like me, and brothers that are different. And there is the man with the whistle, and he keeps us safe. That is where I belong."

[The tears start to well up once more, now that he's finished talking.]

[He smiles apologetically and falls silent as he listens. It sounds like a fascinating world-- yet another he can't identify by the description. If whatever brought him here hadn't taken his TARDIS, he could...

He sighs, and his expression becomes determined. He can work without his TARDIS!] Well, I might not be able to take you home just yet, but we can certainly start looking for your man with the whistle! Couldn't have gone far, right? [Rather it was the Pikmin that went far. But let's not think about that.]

I know you miss your home and your family very much... But you can be brave for them, can't you? You're a giant now, yeah? [He grins.] Nothing can stop you! We'll get you home one way or another!

"G-giant? Me?"

[The tears stop once more, as he struggles to comprehend this.]

"There h-has never been a giant b-brother before... We f-fought giants... That w-wanted t'eat us... I... I don't want to be brave..."

[His expression softens a bit, looking like he's going to tear up again, but then suddenly hardens into a glare of determination. ]

"But I will! For my brothers!"

[He beams.]
Good! Very good-- that's the spirit, see? Everything will be just fine. And if you fought off giants, you must already be pretty brave, eh?

[A pause.] What's your name, then? Do you have one?

"Er.. There a-are a lot of brothers when we fight giants. I'm not brave, we just work together..."

[The Pikmin stops for a moment, giving a thousand-yard.]

"Name? I am... a Red... Pikmin? That is what the man with the whistle calls us. Pikmin."

Pikmin, then! Very good to meet you! Oh, and I'm the Doctor, by the way! Just the Doctor, not Doctor so-and-so, just... the Doctor.

[And with introductions out of the way...]
Now... This man with the whistle. What exactly does he look like? Other than the whistle bit.

"L-look like? Ah... Uh.."

[He plucks a blade of grass from the ground, about an inch long, and holds it so that the doctor can see it.]

"A-about as tall as this, an-and... he has a big nose and... a bubble on his head. He wears funny things, like this," [He points to his own hooded sweatshirt] "Except it's like metal. I think it holds the bubble on his head..."

[He was expecting the just as tall as a blade of grass part, but the other leaves him a bit surprised. A bubble, attached by something metal?]
He sounds like an astronaut... [Now that's an interesting idea. Was Pikmin's planet about to be colonized?]

I'll tell you what, Pikmin! I will keep an eye out for this whistle man, and I will let you know when I find him, alright?

"That sounds, u-um... that sounds good, but..."

[The Pikmin hesitated, not exactly knowing how to ask what he was going to ask. He was hardly known for confrontation, after all.]

"Where are you going? Can... Can I come with you?"

[His eyes widen briefly. One day in this place and he's already picked up a companion? It's a great relief, actually, though he at first feigns apathy:]
Well... I'm a bit of a loner, actually... [A grin spreads across his face.] But, you know... I think this time I'll make a little exception!

[That is, apparently, a resounding "Yes"!]
I'm in that place-- Oh, what did they call it?-- Ah, Nuvema Town, yes! You can reach it through the little teleport pads they have where you are. I'll wait for you!

[This thing... it missed its family. Emmet knew how that felt - he missed Ingo, even if he tried not to show it. So, with a serious smile, he turned on his own video feed.]
...I am Emmet, and I will help you. Yup.

[The Red Pikmin sniffled, a bit confused.]

"You are... An Emmet? An Emmet that will help?"

[There was a hopeful tone to his voice, to be sure, but the confusion lingered.]

"How?"

I am looking for a way home. I am working veeeeery hard, yup! And I will help you get home, too! To your family! Yup!

"F-family? You would help me find them?"

[There is a tone of hope in his voice, an emotion that he has seldom felt since his arrival.]

Yup! I am missing my family too! We need our families! [Aw, you get a kind Emmet smile. Which is totally different to his neutral smile.] I am looking for a way out. I am looking reeeeally hard. You can help!

"I-I can help? What can I do? We are you going to do?"

[The Pikmin is completely oblivious to the change in smile types. Never having had one until recently, he isn't exactly the best at telling expressions apart.]

[...Emmet had many plans. But none he'd share right now... well, only one he could share.]
Right now, I am still looking around. I am still training myself, so I can be strong. Where I came from, I was very strong. And being strong gets you answers. Yup!
[...]
Did your world have Pokemon? [I... I think you just picked up a coach, Red Pikmin 37.]

"Pokemon...? N-no... We have Pikmin, like me, but nothing called Pokemon."

Like you? What were you like?

"I-I was small, a-and red and, uh... Oh! I had a stem, with a leaf on it."

"Wow..." Emmet mused slightly. He'd never heard of a creature like that - but hearing of it, he couldn't help but be curious. Then, with a sudden nod, he grinned. "Anything else?"

Thinking for a moment, the former Pikmin responded. "I h-had eyes and a nose. I didn't have these or this." He pointed to his ears and mouth, respectively.
