[Ahh, Route 1.

Lovely, scenic Route 1.

Kirino's Pokémon (his Swablu, and a recently acquired Milotic) are both out to enjoy the lovely weather, and Kirino...

... is currently being harassed by a small army of ghost-types. There's a good number of Shuppets about as well as a Misdreavus that's taken a liking to yanking on his pigtails.

Kirino really, really just looks like he's resigned himself to all this, however, rather than panicking and flailing and trying to drive them away like he was a few minutes ago.]

You've got to be kidding m--OW! [Stupid Misdreavus.]

[jesus, why are you covered in Ghosts out of everything else, Kirino.

Hayami slinks over a bit, but doesn't get too close.]

... Maybe you should try battling them away, Kirino-kun?

[And guess who has a Togepi thanks to the swarm? This kid.
Pigeto chimes in agreement, with a little "prii prii!" - you'd be much better off getting exp from all this, Kirino!]

[And, wandering out of some tall grass off to one side, one of Kirino's teammates and his Pokémon (Purrloin plus one Sentret!) are drawing closer and watching intently. The pokémon along the Route have been awfully weird lately, but this is still new.

Kariya (and Suisei) snicker as they draw up near the ghosty crowd. The former's expression is two parts amusement to one part 'Okay, this is pretty creepy,' but he's smirking all the same. Of course.]

Kirino-senpai, I think they like you.

They're just a nuisance, that's all. [It's not like they're threatening his life or anything... ~~No, that comes when they evolve--~~]

... I'm starting to think this is every single one in the area. [Swatting away a Shuppet that's gotten too close to his face.]

The Shuppets stay in place, but the Misdreavus is intrigued by the sudden new person to bother!

... So yes, the odd ghost out is yanking at your hair as a greeting, Kariya.]

"Ohhhh my... I don't suppose you're in some sort of emotional turmoil right now are you..?"

That depends Otogi, he might be once he spots YOU and realizes you don't look even remotely human any more. Suddenly, talking Zoroark with a bag and headband. Also Otogi's badge.

...And vest.

They're going to keep being a nuisance, though... Shuppets are notorious for being mean. They kind of... feed off of negative feelings.

[Mostly jealousy. ... Kirino do you have something to share with the class.]

... They're only going to get worse, you know...

... What about that other one-- [As if on cue, the Misdreavus yanks at his hair again.]

Ow, jeez--!!

[Even the ghosts are pausing in their harassment to stop and stare.]

Or they're thinking about having you for lunch.

[He manages to get that out before his hair gets attacked...and then it's all hissing and flailing. (From Kariya, that is. Purrloin doesn't seem too razzed by it.)

Misdreavus, whyyyy. Why do you have to yank his hair when those 'tails are so much more obviously jerk-able? That huuuuurts.]

Ugh. You could keep them under control, though. I'm getting attacked just because you're some kind of spook-magnet!

Misdreavus. Um...

At least, that's how a few of the games described them.
They also like to scare people at night, and they absorb fear for nutrition...

[Either way, Kirino turns to his own Pokémon, snapping and giving a whistle.]

Constance, Water Gun!

[And the Misdreavus gets blasted away by a burst of water from the Milotic. Sorry if that accidentally hit you at all, Kariya.]

[Okay, yeah, he's getting tired of swatting all these Shuppets away from his face. A snap of the fingers to draw Alto and Constance's attention.]

Alto, Peck. Constance, Water Gun. [And then suddenly water and also a tiny bird dive-bombing one of the Shuppets to peck at it--]

[Yeah, given that the Misdreavus was still hovering beside his head, Kariya takes collateral damage. His glare's not all that sharp as he side-steps off towards Kirino, though, because...

No more ghost-thing all up in his face.]

You could teach that one to aim, too.

[There's a quick, drippy nod towards Constance, before he's looking back at the ghosts.]

...Are you going to catch it, or what?

Oh, you'll dry off.

[Though, apparently, Kariya's not the only one getting wet at the moment, given that Constance just sent off another Water Gun at a few Shuppets close to Kirino's face.

He doesn't seem to be complaining, though.]

Maybe. Maybe I'll get one of these hand-puppet-looking ones. I dunno.

[Here - Hayami's going to try to help out, putting his Togepi down and backing off a bit.]

Pigeto-kun, use Metronome, okay?

[Which gets a little nod from his Togepi, who wiggles his little hands in the air --

Only to send a blast of fire forward at one of the Shuppets, which disperses and burns some of the other ghosts while it does so!
Flame Burst, of course!]

[He's been here for a few days.... and the last thing he expected to see while walking down route one was one of his team members getting attacked by those......... whatever they were. When did Kirino get here, anyway??]

Those Shuppets, on the other hand? He's raising his brows at Kirino over those.]

Why? Those things look like...little, baby nightmare-blobs or something. You should get the fun one, if you're going to catch any of them.

[Pointing towards Misdreavus, obviously. Because watching Kirino try to train that one would be a treat!]

[Well, if Kidou's coming to help, then he'll need to assist the sea serpent-looking thing and the little cloud bird.

But the help is quite appreciated.]

Metronome's a signature move of Togepi, and when a Pokemon uses it, they use a random move from any Pokemon.

... Except for Assist, Chatter, Copycat, Counter, Covet, Destiny Bond, Detect, Endure, Feint, Focus Punch, Follow Me, Helping Hand, Me First, Metronome, Mimic, Mirror Coat, Mirror Move, Protect, Quick Guard, Sketch, Sleep Talk, Snatch, Struggle, Switcheroo, Thief, Trick, or Wide Guard, I mean.

But, uh... other than those, anything goes at all.

I'm pretty sure Pigeto-kun used Flame Burst...

[Oh, that's a... cute little teruterubouzu thing. Can it control the weather? Tenma and Gracia are about to get ready for a fight... when the Shuppet they're looking at passes right by them. Uhh.
