[Ahh, Route 1.
Lovely, scenic Route 1.
Kirino's Pokémon (his Swablu, and a recently acquired Milotic) are both out to enjoy the lovely weather, and Kirino...
... is currently being harassed by a small army of ghost-types. There's a good number of Shuppets about as well as a Misdreavus that's taken a liking to yanking on his pigtails.
Kirino really, really just looks like he's resigned himself to all this, however, rather than panicking and flailing and trying to drive them away like he was a few minutes ago.]

[He manages to get that out before his hair gets attacked...and then it's all hissing and flailing. (From Kariya, that is. Purrloin doesn't seem too razzed by it.)
Misdreavus, whyyyy. Why do you have to yank his hair when those 'tails are so much more obviously jerk-able? That huuuuurts.]
Ugh. You could keep them under control, though. I'm getting attacked just because you're some kind of spook-magnet!

[Either way, Kirino turns to his own Pokémon, snapping and giving a whistle.]
Constance, Water Gun!
[And the Misdreavus gets blasted away by a burst of water from the Milotic. Sorry if that accidentally hit you at all, Kariya.]

No more ghost-thing all up in his face.]
You could teach that one to aim, too.
[There's a quick, drippy nod towards Constance, before he's looking back at the ghosts.]
...Are you going to catch it, or what?

[Though, apparently, Kariya's not the only one getting wet at the moment, given that Constance just sent off another Water Gun at a few Shuppets close to Kirino's face.
He doesn't seem to be complaining, though.]
Maybe. Maybe I'll get one of these hand-puppet-looking ones. I dunno.

Those Shuppets, on the other hand? He's raising his brows at Kirino over those.]
Why? Those things look like...little, baby nightmare-blobs or something. You should get the fun one, if you're going to catch any of them.
[Pointing towards Misdreavus, obviously. Because watching Kirino try to train that one would be a treat!]

Speaking of which, Alto is currently... sort of grappling with one of the Shuppets that got too close.
Kirino's not sure whether to be amused or worried.]

[Kariya says this as if it's a one-hit K.O. refutation of any judgments on 'cute' that Kirino might make either now or in the future. Forever.
But he's not near as sanguine about the Shuppet mob as his teammate seems to be, and, so, when Alto gets into a squabble with one, he's quick to react, looking at Purrloin and pointing at another nearby ghosty.]
Suisei, Scratch!
[He looks quite pleased with himself as the feline leaps...for the few milliseconds before its claws sail right through the wild Pokémon. It only succeeds in making the Shuppet turn its eyes on Suisei, looking rather annoyed.]
What? Uhm...back to me!

[He probably should've said something earlier, but--
Constance knocks that Shuppet out of the air with another blast of Water Gun.]

Kariya falls into instant-grouch mode, as Suisei stalks back over to him with a peevish glance up at his trainer. 'Claws right to the face' should've worked a lot better than 'squirt bottle,' if you ask him.]
And how are we supposed to tell that?

Also, given that Milotic's not exactly small, it'd probably be more along the lines of "high-pressure hose" than "squirt bottle". He pulls out a Pokéball to toss at the Shuppet.] I dunno, ask Hayami.
[He gives another whistle.] Alto, back off! [When the bird complies, he tosses the Pokéball at the Shuppet.]

Can't he just stand back and sulk at all the stupid Shuppets, with his Purrloin curled at his feet and his Sentret looking on somewhat fretfully?

Meanwhile, Alto's going to go say hi to that Sentret. Kirino finally looks over as well.] I see you've got a new friend there.
[... He's pretty cheery for a guy who was just being harassed by a small army of ghosts.]

Sentret will be sociable for him, though, don't worry. The normal-type, who'd been standing back decisively from all the ghosts, drops onto all fours to scamper over and meet Swablu half-way, sniffing and chrring at it.]
Yeah. That's Ceres...
I think she was almost happy to be caught, as crazy as everything is in the grass right now.
[You know, with all the stupid, pig-haired ghost-magnets wandering around.]

I think those ghosts will stay away now, thankfully. [Alto's more than happy to allow the Sentret to investigate, and trills in response. There might be an offer of friendship in there somewhere as well, but that's probably because Alto is willing to extend friendship to almost anyone--]

[If it happens again, he's going to have to conclude the obvious: Kirino-senpai is haunted.
For now, though, he'll just watch as Sentret goes up on its back legs and cheerfully chatters with Alto. New friends are nice to have. Especially as self-possessed as her trainer's Purrloin is.]
I thought the Pokémon on this route were supposed to be easy-going or something...

Constance eventually meanders over and lies down, listening to Ceres and Alto chatter. Every now and then, the Milotic croons her own input on whatever's being said.]
That's what I thought... Though, maybe that thing they said about the Entralink breaking even more has something to do with it?

That'd be a huge hassle. We'll never know what's going to jump out at us next...
[Kariya's mood just keeps getting better and better. He'll have his own crowd of Shuppets at this rate.
But maybe Ceres can ward them off. She seems peached at the meet-and-greet going on, especially when the big Milotic comes to settle down with them. That one's way too huge to belong around here, but it's being friendly, so!]

[He's trying to be helpful... Alto and Constance seem to be rather content with socializing for the moment, so Kirino will let them be.]
