[Kariya's not the type to make his greetings before getting himself sorted and calm, at least not to strangers. So, since his arrival, the network features on his Xtransceiver have been sitting idle while he's dashed about and made a scene and freaked out over being kidnapped and also +1 weird-fickle-cat-creature-thing.

And while he's made his way from the Entralink to Nimbasa City. When he clicks the video feed on today, the noise in the background is from that city's Battle Club -- though he's squatted in a corner and not looking near as collected as he'd like to think.]

This is on, right?

[He blinks once, decides that it must be, and then forces an at-ease smile. See how friendly and unassuming he is?]

My name's Kariya Masaki. I'm sorry to be bothering everyone, but...I'm trying to figure out where to start with...

[He fumbles the Xtransceiver's camera around to give a brief, odd-angled glimpse of a Pokemon practice match some distance in front of him. Then the view swings back to his face.]

All of this? A lot of people seem to have more than one, so I don't know if it's better to start by getting more or...learning to fight with the one I've already met? I'm still a little confused about everything, I guess.

Maybe I should ask someone in person....

[Hope you don't mind a Swablu perching itself on your head, Kariya! If it has a trainer, they're nowhere in sight...]

Bluuuu~!

[Uhm, excuse you.

Of course Kariya minds! He gives a sudden start as the creature hops atop his cranium just as he's finishing up his message...and instantly starts tilting his head and trying to shoo it away with one hand.]

Hey! Get off!

Don't you have someone to bother, already?

[He'll spare a glance around to try to spot anyone who might've lost the cloudy-winged creature. His Purrloin, meanwhile, will just perch its front paws up against his arm, to try and investigate the invader.]

[The Swablu flies up a bit to avoid the hand, then down to trill a greeting to the Purrloin.

Also, that Swablu may or may not be tugging at your sleeve slightly, Kariya. Maybe it wants you to follow it?]

No, you can't eat my shirt...!

[Sorry, someone's...a little on edge, still. And jerking his sleeve away from the Swablu's pull.

Fortunately, Kariya's companion is better at interpreting these signals. It considers the other Pokemon for a moment before going back on all fours and taking a deliberate pace or two in the direction the Swablu'd been tugging. That at least redirects the boy's attention.]

...You want to go over there?

[Swablu lets go and flies over near the Purrloin with a happy chirp. It flies in that direction a bit more before it comes to a stop, landing on a familiar someone's shoulder...

Kirino himself is organizing things in a bag when the Swablu lands on his shoulder, and his attention is diverted.] Have a good flight, Alto?

[The response is a quick tug on some of his hair, an attempt to get Kirino to look in the direction the bird just came from.]

[Kariya finally takes the hint and rises, following along behind the two Pokémon with slow, deliberate steps. When they've come far enough for him to spot the bird-thing's target, though, he freezes in his tracks.]

...Kirino-senpai?

[Not that there's any mistaking those 'tails, but...he'd not really imagined that there might be other people from Raimon around! Or even from his whole universe, really.]

[The familiar voice causes his head to snap in Kariya's direction.

"Alto" on the other hand, seems more interested in the Purrloin. It flies down, trilling something to the other Pokémon.]

Kariya! I... didn't realize you were here, too. [Note the Xtransceiver that's been switched off for the time being.]

Only for a day or two.

[The junior defender paces nearer, shrugging his shoulders nervously and leaning back against the wall behind them. His Purrloin is more sociable -- Alto gets a quick, meowed response, and then the feline is slinking around at Kirino's feet, curious.]

Is that your bird? You could keep it from pestering people.

[Kariya grumps, though his heart's not truly in it.]

Ahh, not too much longer than I've been here, then. Hayami's here, too.

[Alto flies back over to Kirino, settling on the top of his head.] Yeah, she's mine. She wanted to fly around a little and I couldn't tell her no. [His eyes dart to the feline.]

That one yours?

That's it? Just us and Hayami?

[It would've been more reassuring to find out the whole team was lurking around. Or maybe at least another first-year. But Kariya will take what he can get, under the circumstances.

Down at their feet, the Purrloin looks up towards Kirino and mews, sweet as can be. Kariya rolls his eyes.]

Yeah. I'm calling him Suisei.

[A nod to Kariya, then to the Purrloin:] Well, hi there, Suisei.

[Kirino turns his attention back to the other defender.] Have you decided what you'll be doing yet?

[And the only warning you guys get of Hayami's approach is a little Joltik running over and bumping against Kirino's foot.
Seems she's found the ones her trainer was looking for! So she's chittering happily at them both, too -

Hayami's a bit out of breath when he makes it, though, considering he was chasing her down.]

H-here you are, Kariya-kun...! I saw your message, so I... thought to come find you!

[VIDEO GAMER EXTRAORDINAIRE here to help with your Pokemon problems!!

... And then his Shelmet reaches them both, plopping down at Hayami's feet and closing his shell.]

... Sorry, Chobomaki-kun. [Hayami forgot Shelmets are naturally slow --]

That's what I was trying to figure out, just now --

[Kariya's interrupted, though, by the Joltik scampering its way over in front of them...and then by the mid-fielder hurrying after it.]

Hayami-senpai?

[He's a little perplexed by the sudden appearance. Not to mention by the bonus Pokémon that finally trails along behind the new arrival. The Joltik's sort of cute, at least. ~~The Shelmet? Not so much.~~]

You've already got two of them. [He observes, sounding so totally un-envious. Really!]

[Kirino glances down to the Joltik, then over to Hayami.]

Another already? [Alto trills greetings to Hayami, then both of the Pokemon with him.]

O-oh, well... kind of. She kept following me around, and Galvantula - its evolution, I mean - they're good Pokemon, so I thought it wouldn't be too much...

[He kneels then, so Bachibachi can climb onto his shoulder.]

But that's what I wanted to tell you both - getting more Pokemon is... well, it's up to you.
If you want to battle, though, you should catch more.

[Kariya considers that advice quietly for a moment, while Suisei busily circles 'round all the newcomers, to make a note of each one and to paw at the leg of Hayami's pants. Finally, he frowns and glances pointedly between both upperclassmen.]

Are you two going to battle with yours?

[So unsure about all this. Also, Hayami being the one who knows what's going on is surreal.]

[A pause, then a glance at Alto, who trills.]

Well... not exactly. I'm supposed to be a breeder--[A pause.] Though, no matter what, any battles at all are kind of inevitable... [Alto chirps in agreement at that.]

Mmm, Chobomaki-kun and I were planning on battling. I don't want to face the Elite Four, but I would like the badges...

[Don't worry, Kariya - he only knows what to do because video games.]

A breeder?

[Kariya is very mature and keeps the snickers he gives there masked behind one hand. Subtly. So subtly.]

I guess we ought to learn to battle, too. If we're going to be stuck here, and there's no way around it...we can at least be good at it.

['We,' given where he's looking, apparently means him and Suisei. It's less uncomfortable thinking about getting the kitty into fights, if he talks about it like a partnership thing.]

[And that's a look that Kariya's receiving from Kirino. One of the "oh grow up" variety.]

[[OH! And for those who don't know, Otogi looks like this.]]

It's about this point that the one who's taken the other two under his metaphorical wing while here comes.

"Aah, there you are..." Otogi seems to be followed by another new team-mate himself... Though the towering Golurk, along with the Audino, Scolipede, and Scrafty...

...Between those things and the beartic he's fairly obviously not 'new'. Still. He looks toward Kariya. "Ah. Another friend from your home world?"

[KIRINO used LOOK. ... But nothing happened! Partly because Kariya is quickly distracted by the new arrival and the small horde of Pokémon that seem to be following him. He glances hastily between Otogi and his two teammates.]

Oh, Kariya, this is Otogi-san. He helped me out when I first arrived here. He's gotten four badges already.

[Alto flies over to perch on Otogi's head, trilling a greeting to the older teen's Pokémon.]

"Nn." The man nods. "Kariya is it? Pleased to meet you then." He looks up briefly, laughing a little as Alto gets comfortable on his head.

"This is my team," he continues, not missing another moment despite the added 'accessory'. "Golurk," Otogi introduces, the golem giving a small nod and a quiet 'gol' for hello, "Audino, Scolipede," he continues, the Audino grinning and cheering as the scolipede snorts.

"And the latest additions- Scrafty," as the scrafy in question flops to the ground snoring, "And Beartic."

"Rrrrrrnnnnn..." ...wow. bears.

O-oh, I haven't met Otogi-san's team yet...!

[Hopefully Otogi's Pokemon don't mind Hayami fanning over them a bit - such a strong looking team! ... It's honestly not too surprising, considering who they belong to.]

Oh. Uh, nice to meet you, too.

[Suisei is busy sniffing around all of the newcomers, especially the ones who happen to be Pokémon. Kariya's plenty happy to let it do the investigating, while he just squints at them.

There's kind of a whole bunch of them. And most of them bigger than his little cat. ~~Not that he's intimidated, of course.~~]

...So, are you guys staying somewhere in the city together? Or what?

Well, we're all staying in different places while we're here, but once we're ready to hit the road, we're all doing so together. [There's a pause as he thinks something over, Alto fluttering down to socialize with the other Pokemon.]

You can come with us, if you'd like. The more the merrier and whatnot. Or something. [A glance to Hayami and Otogi, as if to say "If that's all right, of course."]

"Aah. I was considering the purchase of a caravan, but Hayami intends to take the badge challenge; so we'll have to rely on tents until we return to Nimbasa." Oh..?

"Unless you don't want to join us?"

Well, we could always get a caravan first, and travel back...
But I think it would be nice if you came with us, Kariya-kun.

[The bigger the group the better! Especially if they're going to be wandering in the wild.]

No, if you're all going, I guess I'll tag along.

[Sakka kids have to stick together, or something like that. Besides, if the size of Otogi's team is any clue, the chance of some huge thing trying to eat Hayami is like 100%. He's not going to miss that.

And it's not like he already had plans.]

...Tents? Like, camping out?

[That gets a half-smile out of Kirino, though suddenly he's having some second thoughts.

... Not that he'll voice those aloud.] I'd assume so... [He falls silent again afterwards.]

"Aah. It's the only option, to be honest; a caravan can't be taken along via the warp at the Entralink, and with the speed a caravan moves, it wouldn't be a good idea to get one until after the first three badges have been obtained."

... I guess that makes sense.

B-but we'll have to be extra prepared if we're going to camp out! Wild Pokemon can be d-dangerous, after all!
Even Pokemon like Bachibachi-chan here - [motions to his Joltik] - can be really dangerous if they want to be...!

But it'll be easier to start catching more, if we're staying right around them, Hayami-senpai. Right?

[Here's a sunny smile -- though, really, it doesn't seem too unreasonable to be nervous over that prospect. He'll just let the midfielder take care of the overt fretting.]

Maybe we'll get more experience battling, that way, too.

[Just a nod from Kirino. Right now he's more interested in finishing organizing his bag than contributing to the conversation.]

"That's right- you'll have nothing to fear; Golurk in particular doesn't sleep, so there will always be an open eye."

... but the other two are going with it of course, sure. yes. perfect. sigh.]

R-r-right. But - perhaps we should s-stock up on repels? Maybe?

... Just in c-case? I mean - Pokemon are capable of... of breathing fire, and spitting acid and other dangerous things... it would be b-better to sleep safely, right?

Kariya can't decide whether that's awesome or actually scary.]

If you say so...you can get some repel-whatevers, if you want.

[He'll look up from his bag.] I bought... err, some. We might want to get more just in case...

[Though, admittedly, his tone is more or less suggesting "If only because Hayami insists".

He's pretty certain that Otogi's team is bound to take down anything that crosses them, but whatever.]

"Mn. ...However, repels will only work when you yourself are active however; wild pokemon typically attack only if they themselves feel threatened, they don't stalk campsites. More importantly," he added with a slight cough, "Most of the pokemon on the early routes lack elementally oriented abilities."

[Have an Iris, popping up - she's got a few scapes on her face, but she's fine.]
Well, either way is fine... I mean, I caught lots, but I'm used to having lots. You're an other worlder, right?

[Have a moment's confusion, as he pieces the meaning of that term together. And then a frown at having had to work it out.]
