[Paprika is perched on the steps of the Nacrene City Pokemon Center, definitely looking a little less perky than usual. She's holding what appears to be a dark blue hairband loosely in one hand, and is propping her chin up with the other. Seated on her Trainer's lap, Nugget croons in encouragement, but receives only a halfhearted pat on the head in return.]

Man, I'm sorry, I totally suck at this, don't I?

[Despite obviously not being in good spirits, she still laughs weakly and manages a good smile. Somebody's just learned firsthand why Lenora is so infamous amongst Unova's Trainers.]

Did your thingy break or something? I mean, I bet getting something zapped through space-time or whatever can be pretty rough.

[Ah, training. Paprika could probably stand to do some of that, if only to get more accustomed to actually battling for herself.]

Breeding? Like, for showbiz and stuff?

[She's imagining something like the designer dog breeds she's seen on Animal Planet done Pokemon-style.]

[ Hazel is trying to talk about a thing without saying what it is... And she doesn't think it's possible for her book to be damaged. ]

I don't think anything's broken.

[ She's actually managed to not battle any other trainers. ]

Sort of. I'm not really sure about doing it but, I don't think I'm suited to gym battles at all.

[Granted, N and Chili are probably the only Trainers Paprika's battled, Lenora notwithstanding.]

Yeah, I can totally see that. 'M not sure I'm too good at 'em, either.

[ Cid the Furret decides to sit near Paprika. He's curious. New friend maybe? ]

Can't all be good at the same things I guess.

[Cid is rewarded with a smile and a scratch behind the ears. Wow, that is a long weasel-thing. Nugget also waves hello.]

Yeah, that's true, too. Flipping out over trying to be good at everything ever just makes life suck.

[ Yay1 New friend! Being a bold little thing he'll cuddle right up next to her. Not doing anything to try to dislodge Nugget though. That would be mean. His behavior gets an amused smile out of Hazel. ]

I guess I'll just keep trying what I might be okay at and maybe it'll lead somewhere.

[ Raising adorable things seems to be a good place to start. ]

[Paprika smiles and continues to pet Cid as she talks.]

Yeah, like, I'm not some super-deep person or anything, but I guess it's kinda easier to think about stuff simply like that.

[ While Cid is enjoying Paprika's attention, Cloud decides he wants to be in Hazel's lap even though he doesn't really fit anymore and proceeds to poke at Yuffie in an attempt to convince her to move. ]

Yeah, over-thinking everything will just give me a headache.

[ Except sometimes she can't help it. ]

[A beat.]

Does being a breeder mean you make, like, labradoodles with Pokemon and stuff?

[ Picturing combinations of Pokémon now. ]

Not really. From what I've read the eggs will be what one of the parents is. It's kinda weird.

Woah, definitely not what they taught us in freshman year Bio, man.

[She's just not going to ask about the actual act of breeding between Pokemon. ~~Hot Skitty on Wailord action.~~]

No kidding. Pokémon are just that special I guess.

[ Lucky for Hazel no one ever seems to actually see the Pokémon doing that stuff. A mystery forever.]

Yeah, uh, special.

[Really not something she wants to think about too hard. Ew.]

So're you traveling all by yourself?

[ Hazel didn't even think of it when she signed up for the breeding. It's just not where her mind goes... She still hasn't actually thought of it. ]

Only if you don't count Pokémon. [ Cloud's close enough for a one armed hug so, she'll give him one. ] Not really comfortable enough with anyone to want to travel with them.
