011 ♖ [Video/Action for Nacrene City]

[After being in Nacrene for a few days, N has already won his gym badge in an apparently offscreen battle. So he should be feeling pretty good about himself right about now, right?

Well... Apparently, he isn't, judging by the uncharacteristic anger that shows in his expression as he glares at his Xtransceiver. He's sitting on a bench nearby a cafe, and he's holding a certain crown in one hand.]

I can't imagine how any of you came by this artifact, nor how you thought to give it to me, but I can see no other explanation for its appearance. [He pauses and averts his eyes. There's definitely an odd pain in his expression.

He brandishes the bulky crown with effort; it's apparently pretty heavy.] Is this someone's attempt at a joke? Do you intend to make a fool of me? I demand that you tell me where you found it...! [Apparently, he's trying to interrogate the whole network about this.

He shuts off his broadcast there and turns his gaze to the crown. Holding it in both hands, he stares disgustedly at his distorted reflection in it.]

Here, have Garland, with an Ivysaur sitting behind him.
Cilan's gone to hide after finding his object, after all - Garland's original Pokeball, the burnt-out one from way back when. Of course, Cilan saw it as a threat because who knows his world is powerful and is hiding in Wellspring Cave.]
...You're not the only one who's got a reminder.

... Is that so? [He frowns and glances at his crown. So maybe it isn't just a joke...]
And what did Cilan receive?

[And suddenly, Garland gets out a sword! But instead of saying something, he started to draw in the dirt. While he did this, Ivysaur tottled over to the Xtransiever... and then licked it, smiling. Soon, though, Garland was done. He pointed the Xtransiever at the dirt. What did he draw? It looks like a burned-up Pokeball.]
A memento from the past. A reminder of why he did what he did.

[N is actually a bit startled by the sword, and instinctually draws back a little from his screen. He squints at the drawing Garland has made and raises an eyebrow.]
A Pokeball...?

...My first Pokeball, to be exact. Before we were... saved.
[But then... Garland gave a nod to the crown. Well, he tried to.] Does that mean you've started on your own path?

Saved? [And then he remembers what he heard of the Shadow Triad when he was younger. Ghetsis had saved them, and they were serving him to repay the favor... He decides not to press too far into the matter.

He looks down at his crown. He isn't quite sure what Garland's question means.] ... This crown-- and my kingdom... both were false. I was never truly a king of anything. [Just a puppet king. He tosses the crown aside; it falls noisily to the pavement below. He makes a pained expression and averts his eyes.] Yes, I want to move past it and find my own path. And I don't need reminding of what I used to be.

[ Hazel is feeling kind of pensive. ]

...Are you alright?

[ Because even an idiot could tell that this upset him. Her own gift only makes her sad and homesick. ]

No. [He's angry, confused, and a bit frightened. He holds the crown up, looking at it critically in the light.]
... I didn't think I'd see it again. [And he apparently didn't want to either, because he grimaces and suddenly throws the crown as far as he can manage. It clatters noisily across the pavement.] Useless trinket...! [He hisses and covers his eyes with his now empty hand.]

[ She doesn't know what to say. Comforting someone who is upset is not something she's really had to do before. ]

I guess you don't really want to talk about it... So...

[ Distraction in the form of random subject change time! ]

...Do you think I'd be able to teach Yuffie Ice Beam without one of those TM things?

[ She's been looking into the things her Pokémon might be able to learn. >.> ]

[He looks at her critically through the gaps between his fingers. Eventually, he sighs heavily and leans his head against one of his raised knees.]
Swablu is not an Ice-type. Therefore, the chances of teaching it such a technique naturally are slim. [Swablu actually does learn an Ice-type move naturally and fairly early in level stages, though, so it's definitely not impossible. N just feels like being a Debbie Downer right now. He sounds irritated.] How would you propose you would go about teaching it, anyway?

[ It was a random idea mostly to distract him from his misery but, she kinda wants to know if it's possible now. ]

Well, I haven't been able to find anything about how those TMs work so I was wondering if I could try to mimic the appearance of the move with my spell and maybe... teach her that way.

[ She does need to at least use her power a little to feel like she isn't completely letting her mother down. ]

... Hm. [He's unconvinced. He looks away and seems unwilling to say anything more.

That is, until Tropius decides to enter the screen. He has the now slightly dented crown in his mouth, and sets it atop N's head. It fits perfectly; the Tropius nuzzles N's face praisingly. He heaves another sigh and pats the Pokemon's head.]

... You could make an attempt.

[ Distraction is not working with that crown still in sight, is it? ]

It's worth a try. Want me to let you know if it works?

If you want to. [He realizes that he's being snippy and probably shouldn't let this make him so upset... But he can't seem to help it. He's been put into a terrible mood.]

Just... be sure not to overexert or force Swablu, understand?

Okay. [ she feels a little bad about not being able to distract him from his terrible mood but, it's probably better to let someone closer to him try anyway. ]

...I won't make her if she doesn't wanna. I know what that's like.

Quite the expensive joke.

[Text? No one ever contacts him through text... Which makes sense considering the way he types.]

it is of little value now though people can be cruel if they wanted to be malicious to me i doubt money would dissuade them much

It is a useless artifact and it seems someone is trying to remind me of that it is no concern of yours
