[Video/Action for Nuvema]

[sense_and_sports]

A shaky closeup of Alton's face came on video. He was pointing the camera at himself, and he'd misjudged the distance a little. He was in the Pokemon Centre in Nuvema Town, but it was hard to tell with his face filling most of the screen.

"Hey, I'm new. My name's Alton, and they gave me a Tyrogue." He pointed the camera at Tyrone the Tyrogue for a second, then back to himself. "I look forward to meeting, and battling everyone."

His air of confidence faltered slightly. "Any... other kids here?" He'd got the impression that most of the people who'd been transported here were adults, or at least teenagers.

Heh? [This guy's somewhere around ten or eleven years old. Close enough, even if he is older than you, Alton.] Hey there...

[He looks to have his hands full. Leo the Shinx is squirming in his arms right now for some reason.]

Alton grinned at him. He could see that the other boy was a year or two older than him, but that was okay. "Hey! Nice uh... spark cat... thing!"

The end of that sentence could have gone better, he thought.

[And Subaru grins back, before the screen shakes a bit and Leo manages to squirm out of his arms.]

Thanks...Leo is a handful, though, especially when Rocky starts picking fights with him...

[Ah. That's what's going on. Now, who's Rocky?]

"Who's Rocky?" said Alton. "Another Pokemon?" He also said "So, where are you from? I'm from Chicago. I mean Danville. Mom moves around a lot."

He glanced at his lone Tyrogue. He'd get more soon. Then he'd stand more of a chance.

Ah-yes, he is. My Riolu, the first Pokemon I got here. [He smiles a bit. Never heard of that place before, but then again, he hasn't done that much traveling.]

Ah, I'm from Kodama Town! [And Alton has probably never heard of that town either.]

[sense_and_sports]

"Kodoma..." repeated Alton. "What's that, Japanese? I have a half-sister who lives in Japan."

It was surreal to think that he was talking to someone who might not understand him if they weren't all speaking this strange Pokemon language.

Japanese? No...Electopian. [CLOSE ENOUGH.] Where is...Chicago?

Alton frowned for a second as he tried to figure this out. "Electopian...?" he said. "Is that one of those new space colonies?" It wasn't a nationality he'd ever heard of, and he'd been trying to hear of them all after about the billionth time someone had questioned where his surname came from.

"Chicago's in Illinois. In the United States. Of America." He wasn't sure how much detail he'd have to go into, but surely even a space colonist would have heard of America.

[But what if it doesn't exist where he comes from?]

No...I haven't heard of that before... [He's thinking hard, but he really doesn't remember seeing an America on his world maps.] Our worlds must really be different from each other!

"Yeah..." said Alton.

And yet he just seemed like a normal kid. Were all people from other universes just normal people?

"Do you have any gym badges yet?"

Ah...no. I decided not to collect them for now...

[Even if the two Pokemon he's caught so far enjoy fighting way too much.]

[sense_and_sports]

"Oh, like Hal," said Alton. "My brother. He says he doesn't wanna walk all the way to some other city." They didn't seem to have cars here. Not even the old-fashioned groundbound ones.

"I'm gonna get all the badges so I can go home." He didn't mind walking.

Yeah. I need to get home too, but... [And here, he gets a little sheepish.] This badge thing...from the newsreel I listened to, it didn't seem like a certain thing. All it said was that the badges gave the Entralink extra energy. I want to try my own plan first, and if that doesn't work, at least I'll have more experience for taking on the Gyms, right?

[sense_and_sports]

"You have your own plan?" said Alton, a little excited. "What is it?"

Even his brother hadn't come with any other ideas, and he was on his way to being a complete nerd about this world.

It's a long story, but...well, where I come from, we use a different energy, Denpa. The Pokemon I received, Riolu...they say it can see "Aura," but I found out it could see Denpa as well...so that means if it evolved to be able to sense it, there should be a source of it somewhere in this world. I've picked out a few locations that the Professor told me about, and I'm going to scout them out to see if I can find any sources!

[But why would he want to find sources of Denpa?]

"And you think this denpa stuff has enough energy to send us home?" said Alton. "What does a... denpa source look like?"

Maybe he wouldn't need all the badges after all! He still kind of wanted to get them, though.

Denpa can do a lot, but the solution I was thinking of...well, it...kind of only works for me, I think. The device that came with me, my Hunter VG...well, it's kind of like the XTransiever. Everyone back home has one, so it's like a communication device, money storage, personal ID, that sort of thing. It can also sense and open up these places called "Noise Waves," which can connect two different places regardless of distance. But Noise Waves are very dangerous since Noise is harmful to humans, so right now, I'm the only one who can really use them reliably...

[Subaru seems to think harder, though.]

I never thought about trying to use Denpa to power the Entralink, though, do you think that could work? We use it a lot back home, to the point where there's a whole Wave World connecting everything!

[sense_and_sports]

Alton shrugged. "Beats me. It's all energy, right?" It was a shame that the possible solution would only work for this boy, but if it worked, Alton was happy for him.

Mmm. Denpa does do a lot, but we still haven't figured out what to do with the Noise waste it creates. That's why Noise Waves are so dangerous, we don't really have any reliable protection against them.

[So then, how can Subaru use them?]

Still, when it's used correctly, both Denpa and Noise can be used to do some amazing things...I think I should try to do a little bit of looking into that too, see if it can power the Entralink.

"You should talk to my brother too," said Alton. "He's really into this kind of stuff." How much help he'd be without an Internet connection, Alton wasn't sure.

Oh-really? [This sounds like a good idea.] What's his name?

[sense_and_sports]

"His name's Hal," said Alton. "He says he's staying in... Nimbasa... City." He was a little unsure of how to say 'Nimbasa'. "Is that close to where you are?"

Mmm. I think I'm two or so cities away. I'm in Nacrene right now.

[sense_and_sports]

Alton shrugged. "Okay." It was worth asking. "Want me to call him?"
