Third (I lost count) Star | Video and Action in Nacrene

It had been a couple of days since they left Striaton for traveling, Estelle wasn't sure if Shizuo minded camping out for two of those days but they had arrived somewhat intact.

Estelle's Golett decided to do some sneak filming on their activity while she wasn't looking. Who knows why? Estelle had led Shizuo in front of the Nacrene Museum and Library for starters.

"Well! Here we are Mister Shizuo~ This is the place where I've learned oh-so much about this world~! Maybe you can find something you're interested in when you browse through the shelves~!" Estelle suggested.

Oh and I guess passerbys that were in the area could interact with her too. It also seemed to video-feed was able to be replied to.

"...What?" He didn't quite catch that. Estelle was speaking way too quickly.

"It looks like the way to get home is to get all the Gym Badges! Shizuo-san!" Estelle gasped, breathing normally now.

"..." Well.

"So they'll let us go home only if collect all the badges?" Shizuo didn't see why he should have to jump through hoops just to return to his own world. "Why not just let us go now?"

"Well apparently the portal reacts to a person of worth in this world and one of those ways is badges?" Estelle explained, trying to recall the explanation.

"That's stupid." Shizuo did want to return to his own world, though. Unova was a nice break from the ultra-busy city life he was used to, but he didn't want to stay here forever. He might not like the city but even someone like him had attachments. If he began battling, though, he would feel like he was going against his anti-violence views.

"Just one of the ways?"

"Well, maybe there's something else it reacts to! I know other notable Pokemon raising occupations include Breeders, Coordinators, and Rangers... Ooh~ A Pokemon Ranger might suit you well Shizuo-san~! Wait just a moment~" Estelle said, skedaddling toward another end of the library.

She returned with about 10 books and dumped them in Shizuo's arms.

"Here! These seem to be the most basic stuff you need to know about Pokemon Rangers~"

Shizuo stared down at the books, obviously not wanting to read them all. Were the 'basics' so complicated that he really needed 523 books on them? He set down the majority of the books and began flipping through one with pictures. He was a simple guy.

"So what does a Pokemon Ranger do?" Shizuo asked, subtly fishing for a shorter way to get the information.

"Pokemon Rangers are not Pokémon Trainers, as their goals and methods for interacting with Pokémon are very different. Specifically, they harness the power of certain Pokémon and utilize them to help defend nature," Estelle recited, quoting something basic from memory.

"They help relieve the effects of natural disasters and protect the environment with the aid of Pokemon, in short~"

Shizuo perked up a bit, seeming more interested now. That actually sounded like something he would enjoy doing.

"Where can I sign up?" His own world probably needed these rangers more than Unova did, though.

"I'm not exactly sure, I know there's Ranger Unions in Almia, Oblivia, and Fiore, but I think there might be one in Unova.... They didn't state where it was though! That's really strange..." Estelle mused, wondering why it wasn't listed. "Perhaps it's in a big city like Castelia or Nimbasa!"

"Maybe it's in one of these books..." Shizuo stared at the large pile for a moment before returning to the picture book in front of him. Hey, it was as good a place as any to start.

Strangely enough, the book did mention Almia, Oblivia, and Fiore, but not Unova.

"W-well if y-you find anything then we c-could just go there?" Estelle suggested.

"I don't think Unova has any Ranger Unions," Shizuo said in a rare moment of perceptiveness. He sighed and frowned, flipping the book shut.

"Maybe I'll be a breeder or 'coordinator.'" Breeding didn't sound very appealing to him either, and he didn't know what a coordinator was, but hey. Even if Shizuo preferred more natural settings, he was beginning to miss Ikebukuro a bit. He hadn't seen a familiar face in a long while now. Even someone who wasn't very social would begin to miss old daily annoyances. ~~Except for Izaya.~~

"Awwww~ But I think you would've looked great as a Ranger~!" Estelle giggled, complimenting her travel partner.

"Well then you have to get registered~! Let's head to the Pokemon Center~!" Estelle proposed.

"..." Shizuo couldn't help but blush slightly from awkwardness. He wasn't used to receiving compliments, even asinine ones.

"Y-Yeah." He still didn't know which occupation he would choose, but was leaning toward 'coordinator.' Let's just say he didn't have much interest in having his Pokemon breed.

"That's the spirit, Shizuo-san!"

And so they went.
