008 ♖ [Action]
[It's been a few days since he woke up from the Dream World, but this evening is N's first time leaving the Pokemon Center. His Pokemon, having been let out of their Pokeballs before the escapade, have had no problem keeping themselves entertained and fit... save for one.
N wanders out into Striaton City's garden, Growlithe and Zoroark in tow, and a particular Pokeball held carefully in both his hands. He's arrived late in the day-- a while after sundown-- in the hopes of the garden containing less people. Hesitantly, he opens the Pokeball, releasing a Serperior. She twists this way and that, coils, and shoots a threatening hiss in N's direction. He backs away slightly, holding his hands up.]
Just me. You know I don't mean you any harm, friend. I'm only regretful you were locked away the whole time... Please forgive me.
[The Serperior glares at him for a moment longer before seemingly growing bored of him and slithering off elsewhere, exploring the garden. N leans against a nearby bench as he watches the Pokemon. Well, she didn't attack him. That's a good sign.]
I believe this is the calmest I've seen you, Serperior. Are you alright? [Serperior looks back up and slithers suddenly in his direction. She stops dangerously close, narrowed red eyes inches away from N's. Zoroark growls warningly, but N silences her with a quick motion of his hand. He raises his other toward Serperior's head.]
I'm sorry-- I can't hear you... [He smiles apologetically.] Can you understand me? [The snake just stares. N is about to lay his hand on her head, until she abruptly pulls away and gives a distinct battle cry. N expects there to be a wild Pokemon on the path, but instead it's... a person. One that Serperior is heading toward at a rather aggressive-looking slither.]
Ah--! Serperior, stop!
((OoC: Don't let your snake out after sundown, guys! But yeah, this is the shadow Serperior that N "liberated" from Miror B. a while back-- one he's afraid to let out without supervision because she has some violent tendencies and is difficult for him to read.
She's heading your character's direction, so... react as you will!))

YES LETS DO THIS-
And suddenly a giant snak-
Oh sweet Arceus it's a Serperior and it's not stopping. "Ngh- Crap..!" Normal humans would run.
Otogi not being normal, he fully intends to counter this snake, and actually prepares to do so, complete with what looks to be half of a Zorua's combat stance.
SAMUEL L. JACKSON STYLE
"S-stop!" N attempts, rushing to meet whoever Serperior has decided to attack, but it's apparent he isn't quite sure how to stop what's about to happen. He gets a brief look at the team, and pauses for a moment. Otogi and Golett-- the one that witnessed the gruesome scene of his nightmare.
He does nothing for a moment, at a loss of what to do, until Serperior moves to strike, lashing out with the blade-like tip of her tail.
FFF YES
Reminds him of the ones at home- in mystery dungeons.
The blade like tail lashes forward and he leans back in an instant, allowing it to narrowly pass over him- then, however...
He charges. "HHHRRRFFFFFF..!! Want to fight then? ...Alright..!"
no subject
"Otogi, don't--!"
He's about to leap into the fray himself, but is pushed back by his Zoroark. She lunges forward, almost in time with Otogi, with a Faint Attack. Serperior, preparing for Otogi's attack rather than Zoroark's, reals and gives a shrill cry-- a sound that makes N recoil and bring his hands to his ears. Serperior thrashes in a blind rage, her tail sending out unsteady Leaf Blade attacks.
-as she runs to update her pokemon-
The others have decided to jump in as well- "Tch! Alright then wise guy, try this on for size!" ...So says the Audino as he charges in with 'pound'.
"Would Attract not work better..?" ...So says the Golett as... Wooaaaah Shadow punch..!
"NOT EVEN TRYING."
no subject
"Stop it!" he snaps. His words successfully make Zoroark back off, but he isn't so sure about Otogi and his troop. He worms his way into the fray, trying to push back the others off of Serperior. "Please stop-- She's aggressive, but she doesn't deserve this treatment-- just stop for a moment...!"
no subject
"Audino..!" Otogi barks in counter. "Attract!"
"...Damn it." The sight of a male audino trying to impress a serperior.
Thank you, no-miss techniques.
Golett in the meantime bows her head in apology. "Forgive us..."
no subject
N watches the Pokemon silently, surprised to see her in such a state. "I... It's alright," he says quietly to the Golett. "... I suppose I should actually thank you for calming her."
He steps gingerly over to Serperior's side and brings his hands up to either side of her head. She blinks dazedly and gives a brief hiss before slithering off elsewhere. N lets out a breath; it's apparent that Serperior isn't going to try attacking again any time soon. "I've never seen her attack another person like that before. She's attacked me, but..." He sighs. "I'm sorry. I should have been more watchful. I... thought we were 'making a breakthrough', as they say."
no subject
Meanwhile...
"Yea! I got it~" Audino you used to hate attract though-
no subject
His eyes are trained on the Serperior, which is now exploring the garden at a slow pace, occasionally glancing back at Audino. "Pokemon are not meant to contain such darkness," he adds. "There is... a sort of border that makes it difficult for me to read her, and she's very aggressive. A dangerous combination."
His eyes wander back to Otogi and his team, and settle briefly on the Golett. It's a bit strange, seeing her again outside the Dream World.
...I just remembered that the things that work best are essentially massages and loving.
"Shadow pokemon..?" Mmnn...
He looks over to Audino and Serperior, frowning. "...What have you tried so far, to reach out through that..?"
As Otogi says this, Golett looks up toward N herself- she has assuredly not forgotten that dream, N.
ffff
He looks at the Golett for a while longer (of course she wouldn't have forgotten) before turning away. "She reminds me of the Pokemon I grew up with, somewhat... The difference, I believe, is that, even if she wanted to, she cannot open her heart to me. It's as if she has no emotions, no... soul."
no subject
Oh, that caught Golett's eyes. "...Audino..."
"Hey, how's that eh? Your back's really tight y' know?"
...Is the Audino massaging attract-induced Serperior..?
Otogi spares a glance at the sight, before looking back to N. "Perhaps... It's because you're treating her like all the others. Maybe she needs more care than that right now- there has to be some way, right?"
"..Need a purifier..."
Audino is a genius
He trails off and turns his head to look at the Audino. Serperior stays still under the other Pokemon's paws, blinking her eyes slowly. After a moment, she leans down and coils up at the Audino's feet with what seems to be a contented sigh.
N watches in bafflement, gaping slightly. "How...?" Was that seriously working?
He's a ladies man~ -shot-
"...Perhaps it's because of the amount of care? You said she was surrounded by 'darkness'... So then, the natural solution would be to respond with light, wouldn't it..?"
Audino/Serperior is my new otp
And he's never really had the opportunity touch the Pokemon too much, due to her aggressive tendencies. "I suppose I should try this method more often! I think Sigilyph's Hypnosis should be able to calm her enough..."
He smiles, now in much better spirits than before. "Thank you! Perhaps if I continue with such methods, her condition will improve."
I SHIP IT. :U
If Audino heard that (well of course he did), he's not responding...
Golett nods at any rate- "Mm. Hypnosis may work..."
no subject
He watches the now relatively tame Serperior for a moment longer before he looks at the Golett. "Now, Golett... It's good you're here. I wanted to talk to you."
no subject
"Ahh... Alright..." Errr, to deal with Otogi though... "...Otogi... You should probably find out what Audino is doing..."
Otogi stares a moment, but nods nonetheless. "Alright... I'll go check in on him..." That ought to make it easier...
no subject
"Well, then..." He sighs. "I wanted to thank you, first of all. For being with me in that nightmare." He averts his eyes with a bit of a chuckle. "I think your presence... helped bring me back to my senses in the end. And again, I apologize for my behavior during it."
no subject
no subject
"... I've been thinking about what you told me, in the dream," he says carefully. "It's strange. I remember it in surprising clarity. The way you spoke about your trainer... He sounds kind, though it seems life has not acted the same toward him."
no subject
no subject
He shakes his head. The reason for Golett's presence wasn't as important. "What kind of curse do you mean?"
no subject
"Otogi's father played a foolish game from an ancient time... ...By losing, he gained as many years as he'd already had in just a few nights...
"In a few nights, Otogi's father resembled his grandfather..."

ITT: Characters trying to beat up a snake.
i've had it with these effing snakes in this effing garden
"Serperior, stop this!" N shouts as he rushes after the Pokemon. "That's Dragonite-- Dragonite is a friend, understand?"
Apparently, Serperior doesn't understand, because she immediately lashes out with her tail-- Leaf Blade.
no subject
And then, she leaps for the Serperior herself - yes, she's trying to bite at it, trying to grip it in her mouth, so she can try and knock it down.
oh man oops i just realized i lapsed into third person style i'm sorry ;o;
He really doesn't want to resort to forcing Serperior back into her Pokeball, but it occurs to him that that might be the best choice. Serperior falls onto her side at the force of Dragonite's lunge, and begins to thrash wildly as teeth begin to pierce her scales. With Serperior pinned underneath Dragonite, N successfully returns her to her Pokeball. He holds it closed with both hands as it moves-- Serperior apparently straining to be let out again.
it's okay :)
thanks bro ;o;
After a moment, the Pokeball stills, and N pockets it as he steps cautiously toward Dragonite. There's blood-- quite a bit of it. N has never seen Serperior injure anyone other than himself-- and those were always just minor cuts. He's obviously very alarmed. "Dragonite, I... I should have been keeping a more watchful eye. You're hurt, I..." Another apology hangs on his tongue, but he changes his mind quickly. "Can you walk?"
no subject
It's just a stinging pain, though. Nothing too major. "I-I'm fine." Dragonite said, though. She doesn't like this weakness - so, she's gonna keep on telling herself this doesn't hurt.
Dragonite. :|
no subject
He glances around briefly, gritting his teeth. If his Ditto was around, he'd ask it to transform into an Audino to help with the pain. But he's let it out for the night, and it isn't with him-- just Zoroark and Growlithe are here. He starts moving carefully, trying to lead Dragonite with him. He's far from a professional when it comes to treating injuries, and he needs to get her to the Pokemon Center, at least for the sake of getting proper supplies.
"I'm sorry-- I've never seen Serperior... attack anyone so viciously." But perhaps that was because he's never let it out in the presence of humans other than himself. Or maybe it's because Dragonite used to be a Pokemon... "It isn't her fault-- She... She cannot help it. It's my own fault for not watching more carefully."
no subject
Shaking her head, she growled. "Nice to know she attacked me first."
And then a pause. "I could have taken her, you know."
no subject
And so onward he goes, leading her carefully but hastily out of the garden and into the rest of the city, toward the Pokemon Center. "Do you mind it-- the Center?" He of course doesn't want to force her into the place.
no subject
...Would she get shoved into a tiny ball? However, she was feeling injured. She could take N, sure. But maybe they'd stop this aching. Dragonite missed her scales. "Yeah, yeah, fine."
Oh why not
Though it simply seemed like that wouldn't be the case. Someone had let their Pokemon run rampant.
Homura sighed, she knew her own power was quite limited here, but she was quite sure her own Pokemon couldn't quite stand up to something like this.
*Click*
One instant Homura was in front of the Serperior, the next she was... tripping over the end of its tail.
"No!" Homura gasped, bracing herself as she turned around to face the grass snake Pokemon.
omg Homu no
"Serperior, return to me!" N called out, rushing to intercept the Pokemon. But it was apparent that Serperior wasn't listening, and N's pace wasn't fast enough. "Growlithe, friend-- Use Roar!"
His Growlithe lunged forward, faster than his trainer, to deliver a string of surprisingly deep and loud barks and growls. The Serperior hissed irritably, shrinking back as if to retreat, but not before lashing out blindly with its bladelike tail in the Growlithe and Homura's direction.
stupid power limits lol THROWS CHARACTERS INTO LIFE-THREATENING SITUATIONS
But Homura still sensed a bit of hostility from the Pokemon. Grabbing the Growlithe in front of her, Homura dove under the blow...
"Gah!" except she was a bit late and about 10% of the attack crashed into her side. She managed to stand up, but not without wincing at the incision where the Serpeior made the blow.
"And before I could take a skyscraper head-on... Ngh," Homura murmured, setting the Growlithe down. It looked like the Serperior was heading around again.
"Oi! Don't you have a Pokeball to return it to?" Homura gasped out at N.
story of my RP life
Now at the scene, N flinched. He did have a Pokeball to return Serperior to-- it was still in his hand. But it was clear that he, for some reason, didn't want to return the Pokemon just yet. "Growlithe, Roar again."
Growlithe sprung into action, yapping away fiercely as the Serperior dared to come closer again. N stepped forward quickly, placing himself between Homura and the wincing Serperior. He held a hand out toward the Pokemon's head. "Stop this. Please stop. You don't have to fight." He settled his hand on Serperior's head, and the Pokemon shook before darting away in the opposite direction, fleeing from the Roar.
With a heavy sigh, N reached out with the Pokeball in hand. Serperior quickly disappeared inside.
erryday im... I can't think of a clever enough word. life-threatenin'?
It seemed like N had his regrets about resorting to the method he just used though. Homura slowly picked herself up and walked over.
"There aren't always pretty solutions for everything," Homura remarked dryly. "Don't beat yourself up about it."
She's right! QB squeaked audibly, deciding to pop out of his ball and onto Homura's shoulder in his Eevee form. There's nothing to worry about if you didn't have a choice.
"...Can he hear you?" Homura's eyes sharpened at QB, before giving N a cursory glance.
This person has a special knowledge! Or perhaps it's a natural ability. If anything he can understand me at least, QB blinked, licking his tail.
"...Hmmm...?" Homura mumbled, slightly dubious as she turned to N.
daredevils
He looked up at the sound of Homura's voice, biting his lip. "True. But I still believe a more preferable one was possible, had I taken better precautions..." He pocketed the Pokeball and opened his mouth to ask if Homura was injured badly, but he couldn't help stopping himself at the sight of the Eevee. He listened, and his eyes widened with shock, looking back at Homura with new interest.
"You can hear his voice?" he questioned, an odd hopefulness in his expression. He glanced back and forth between Homura and QB. "I've been able to understand Pokemon since I was very young-- But I've never met anyone else that could do the same...!"
crushes N's hopes and dreams
"Ah, it seems you were right, Kyubey. He can definitely hear you," Homura reaffirmed, grumbling. Wonderful.
See! I told you so~
"Kyubey is actually one of my... companions that came with me when I was transported here," Homura explained. "He had quite an amount of power and... seems to have transferred his consciousness into this form when we arrived. I'm trying to see if I can expand on that notion by... evolving him, if I recall the term."
If anything I'm just passing messages along to others. Nice to meet you, Kyubey cheerfully greeted N. Though that was only the tone of voice, he didn't truly feel emotions after all.
"Well, that's just the only power he was granted when we arrived at any rate," Homura shrugged, before wincing and clutching her side.
as always /GROSS SOBBING
He mustered a smile. Even if it was a strange Pokemon, it was still a Pokemon, and all Pokemon were his friends. "You have it right. Pokemon will evolve when certain conditions are met. I suppose you mean to evolve him into an Es--"
He would have continued, noted that evolution would be QB's choice to make and not Homura's, but he stopped himself, looking dismayed. "You're hurt." He frowned worriedly and began to speak quickly. "I'm sorry-- It is not Serperior's fault! I should have been keeping a more watchful eye. I'll escort you to the Pokemon Center. They can properly treat you there."
/paps
Still clutching her side, Homura drew out her breaths, trying to lessen the pain as she took N's arm unconsciously.
"Yes, I... believe that we both decided that expanding his communication abilities would enable us to understand some more about this world, at any rate," Homura explained, putting on a wry smile.
"Ah... well, be more care- ngh-ful, next time," Homura grimaced, her pain worsening as N moved her toward the Pokemon Center.
aaaand we can handwave the bandagey-uppy scene...??
He was brought abruptly out of his thoughts by the hand on his arm, and he flinched, as if expecting her to hurt him, before moving to help support her. "I will be," he replied quickly.
Once they did reach the Center, he exchanged a few quick words with one of the nurses-- one that seemed to know him (likely because of his frequent visits), judging by the way the two spoke. Before long, Homura is being ushered down a hallway by the nurse and led into what looks like a hospital room. N, Growlithe, and Zoroark follow closely, before the nurse turns to face him.
"Ah, Mister N?" she started gently. She seemed to consider putting a hand comfortingly on his shoulder, but he was quick to shy away from it. "Why don't you and your Pokemon go back to the waiting room?"
"Why?" N questioned worriedly.
"Well, it's... Don't you think patients would want privacy?" N just furrowed his brow, as if unsure if the patients really would want privacy. The nurse smiled and gestured back toward the waiting room. "I'll call you once this is done, alright?"
"... Okay," N answered eventually, backing away. He glanced at Homura. "I'm sorry..."
Homura deadpans the whole time N sees her half-naked if this was a dating sim
"Hn," Homura grunted in reply to N's apology, the doors closing between them. The Center was well-equipped for human aid as well apparently. In a few minutes, Homura was bandaged up nicely and walked normally out of the room, bowing to the nurse in gratitude.
"Hey," Homura waved to N, finding him in the waiting area.
