First Flight - video/action for the Entralink

[So, on the network today... a crying girl. No, seriously.]

S-sob... has anybody seen a Salamence? She's about this tall - [she said, reaching one of her hands above her head,] - and she only listens to me, and she's really blue and strong! She's my best friend, and if she's gone... sniff... then I would have let him win!

[And then a pause, as she wipes her nose. A few seconds later, she turns off the feed.

Only to turn it back on when she's more composed, a few minutes later.]
By the way! I'm the gym leader of Mistralton City - well, for now, anyhow! [Well, not one at all in this world. But. Whatever.] My name's Iris, and if I had my team right now, I'd be in the air looking for her - Salamence, I mean. She's also really cute! So, if you see her, let me know - okay?

Also, umm... [...] do any of you want to come with me? I know my way around a city or two, but not much of the world! [Okay, off the feed goes.]

[For a moment, N is stunned. First, it's the sight of a sobbing child; it's naturally bewildering and a bit upsetting. Then, it's because he recognizes this child. When he arrived in Opelucid, he had battled Drayden for the badge, but he had seen Iris before and after the battle. Quite a bit of emotional strain between them. It takes him a while to come up with words.]
Ah-- I... I have not seen a Salamence, but I will keep an eye out. She cannot be so difficult to spot if she passes by, right?

Exactly! And if you can catch her, then you'll be able to send her back to me! Right, Mister? [Yeah... lucky for you, N, that this kid doesn't know who you are. At all. One of the many things she was never told. She's got her confident face on, of course.]

[She... doesn't seem to know him. A part of him is baffled, and another part seems to expect it. He's been back in Unova for weeks, and no one else has recognized him either...]
... R-right, I suppose...

[He pauses, collecting himself. The only real disdain he had for Iris was her idea of battling for competition; the girl herself seemed energetic, and obviously loved her Pokemon. And now that he's considering that battling isn't a bad thing... Maybe he can...]
You know... I am missing a dragon of my own. It seems whatever brought us here has stripped us of any Pokemon we previously had with us.

Oh no! [Admittedly, Jade has absolutely no idea what a Salamence is, but whatever it is, it (she?) is missing and this girl is upset and she's always tried to help wherever she can!] Um, where was the last place you saw he—

[And then the feed is out.

Oh.

Jade sits there and stares for a moment, trying to figure out what to do, only to catch the feed turning on again just as she goes to put her Xtransiever away.]

I'll keep a lookout for her!

Oh, um... Well, I don't know my way around... anywhere here, really... It's a long and kind of funny story, hehehe! But maybe we could travel together? We could explore all these new things together!

They took a dragon of yours too!? That's mean! [Whoever 'they' are. Iris is putting her money on Giratina, though. With a pout, Iris took a better look at the guy she was talking to. Hm... nah, no clue who he is. But if he lost a Pokemon, that's bad. Very bad.]
I guess I also lost my other Pokemon - I hope they're okay as well!

Really!? You'd travel with me? Where are you? [Iris is in friend-make mode. But then she ponders some of her other words - and her smile shrinks a little.] ...Are you from another region? Or is it something bigger?!

Yeah! It would be fun! Right now I'm in...Nimbassa, I think it's called? Near that ferris wheel! [She pauses at Iris' question, though. Jade hasn't really gotten a full grasp on this whole new universe thing yet!] Well, I'm from an island. But that wasn't where I was before I got here. Um...

[She thinks it over for a second, trying to decide the best way to explain without confusing Iris or herself any more than she already is.] It's really different where I come from, because we don't have Pokémon. We have animals, but... [She shrugs.] Well, the point is, I'm not from here, so I'm more confused than you are, hehehe!

[He smiles reassuringly.]
I'm sure they will all be fine. I trust they can take care of themselves well enough. [Or... so he hopes. He thinks that is true if the Pokemon were simply sent back into the wild, but... if they weren't... He'd rather not think about that.]

Iris, is it? My name is N. I've heard a great deal about you-- it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Wow - an island?! I've seen other regions, but they've all been whole continents! You've gotta tell me more - I've never heard of an island without Pokemon!
[You've gotten her excited, and she's poking at the screen, trying to figure out how to get to Nimbasa. Don't mind the hugefingers coming into view.]
The ferris wheel? Hey, have you been on it yet? It's fun! [Don't rub it in, Iris.]

Oh, well, it was really cool! It was always very green and full of flowers and things, and I lived in my house, which was kind of a huge observatory, with my Grandpa and my dog, Bec! And there was the Frog Temple outside, too, and it was soo coooool, and... [She trails off and sort of looks away as she speaks. In all honesty, Jade misses her island, even if that wasn't where she was before she came here. She misses a lot of things!

But that's beside the point, because right now Iris looks like she's trying to get to Nimbasa by shoving her way through the screen. But Jade frowns at the ferris wheel question.] No, I haven't. They said I couldn't go on it by myself because the seats were dual-riders! Laaaaame!

Wow... that sounds awesome! And pretty, too! [Iris is impressed. And grinning, too.

But as Jade frowns and explains, Iris gives a nod to herself, and a bit of a chuckle.] I guess that makes sense - every time I went to ride the Ferris Wheel - which, by the way, is a lot - I had to go with Uncle Drayden. But we should go togeth--

[And then Iris teleported. Mid-sentence.

She's now in Nimbasa - of course, arriving at the Pokemon Center, with her Woobat behind her. With a nod to her friend, Iris started to make her way towards the Ferris Wheel.

But, of course, her Woobat rushed in front of her, in the same direction as Iris.

And it gets there first, of course - and does what Woobat do best. Well, what Iris's Woobat does best. Knocking straight into Jade, trying to plant its nose all over her. Playfully, of course.]

Yeah, I'm sure mine can, too! I hope so, anyway... [Iris can't help but worry about all of her team.

But at the mention of his name, Iris doesn't know it. But... he knows of her. I mean...] Of course you've heard of me! I am a gym leader, after all! [/showoff] It's good to meet you too, N! Even if I don't know about you.

[...

where did she go.

Jade peers at the Xtransiever for a moment and just sort of hopes that Iris shows back up, but then Bec starts to bark.]

Huh? What is it, boy?

[And she stands up so that she can get a better view of where Bec is barking at just in time to be tackled by a fluffy bat thing.

Bec is barking like mad now as if it's going to do anything but Jade doesn't seem to mind much! She giggles and gently tries to push it away like she's trying to push at a very excited puppy.] Hehehehe! Down, boy, down! Where did you come from, hehehe?

[He chuckles.]
Yes-- your skills are renowned throughout the region, I believe. [And she doesn't know him. This is good news.] And it's okay. You do not have to know of me. I am only a trainer, after all.

[He pauses, tilting his head questioningly.] Though... there is something I want to ask you. You said you are the gym leader of Mistralton City?

[Woobat is the best puppything. Anyhow, a few moments later, Iris rushes up.]
Woobat--!! Geeze, you're so excitable! Come back here! [With a bit of a pout, Woobat then flew back to Iris's side. Iris gave a nervous chuckle, as she came closer.]
S-sorry...!!

Still... I should remember every trainer I see. In case I'm gonna challenge them, right?
[...]
Yup! I'm the best gym leader there, too! [You're the only gym leader (who can work), Iris. :|] Is there a problem with that?

[He smiles crookedly.]
I don't believe I'll be challenging you anytime soon, but... You know me now, don't you?

[He pauses and raises an eyebrow.] Well... It is just that... I thought you were a gym leader of Opelucid City, and Mistralton's leader was Skyla. [No, he's sure of it.]

Oh gosh, don't worry! [Jade just sort of giggles and stoops down to pick up her Growlithe in an attempt to get him to stop barking, and a couple head-pats later it works.] It's such a cutie!

It is, isn't it?! [Sudden mood swing to excited.] Woobat is super cute! And strong, too! I'm gonna see this whole world alongside Woobat!

...Nope, I'm the gym leader of Mistralton City, after something happened to Skyla! [SOMETHING. Her expression seems to have become semi-serious at mentioning this, though.] But it's fine. I'm only the gym leader until Skyla is better.

Oh. [He blinks, looking baffled. Does that... even happen? He knew the gym leaders would leave their stations at their gyms, of course... But what could make them leave for that long?] I see...

What sort of "something"? It must be rather... dire a situation, for her to require a replacement.

Hehehe, that sounds like fun! [Bec barks again and she shifts him in her arms enough so that he can be petted.] It's so cool, to go and see the world! There's a lot to see, isn't there?
