007 ♖ [Action]

[This dream starts with a light-- a dim one that illuminates a long hallway. Black marble floors lead along walls adorned with banners of a certain crest. The hallway ends at a door, from beneath which a brighter electric light emanates.

Should you choose to open it or not, it seems to ease open automatically, revealing what lies inside. It's a child's room by all appearances, decorated with bright colors, with all sorts of toys strewn about. In the center sits N, idly pushing a toy train along a track and watching emotionlessly as it takes off on its own, moving along the track before returning to him. There are four Pokemon crowded around him-- a Zorua, a Darmanitan, and two Woobats-- all of which watch the train with some level of curiosity...

At least, until they realize someone has opened the door. The Zorua snarls in warning, and the other Pokemon quickly back off, fleeing as far away from the door as they can get. N himself looks up, startled--

And he's suddenly gone. In his place sits a much smaller young boy with the same pale green hair, and the same void cube hanging from a chain around his neck. He looks intrigued at first, his expression a fearful sort of hopeful.]

Fa-- Ghetsis--? [But that doesn't look like Ghetsis walking into his room. He hurriedly gets to his feet and backs away, ready to bolt... even if it's apparent he doesn't have many places here to run to. The boy clutches the toy train in his hands and watches with wide, wary eyes.]

((OoC: What am I doing skdjflsdjfkds.... Even if this is just a dream, N has regressed back into a child state. He's old enough here that he should be able to talk, but due to his lack of interaction with other humans, his speech is limited. Any comments will be replied to by [personal profile] lowercaseking ! ;u;))

[He looks almost amused.]
M-most of them call me Lord N. But that's okay too.

[He nods and takes a small step toward her, head tilted curiously.]
You have red hair, but you look different. [She doesn't have the uniform on either.] Why are you here, if you don't wanna hurt my friends? Th-that's all humans do, isn't it? [There's some disdain in his voice, but he looks more curious than anything.]

"Lord N"'s cool, too.

[Paprika is just now realizing that N's childhood might've been a lot more messed up than she'd thought, and it's a bit uncomfortable to dwell on. Instead, she moves to sit down on a toy chest, patting the space next to her as an indicator for N to come sit.]

Hurt your friends? Like, your Pokemon friends and stuff? Nah, not all people are, like, total douchebags or anything. I mean, sure, there're a lotta jerks out there, but there's tons of other people, too. I guess I'm really only here 'cause I've been kinda wandering around a bunch of dreams, though.

[If he hears the mention of dreams at all, he doesn't react to it. Humans could say some strange things, after all, and the dream doesn't seem willing to let him be aware of his state.

He watches as she takes her seat; one of the Woobats flutters away, apparently wanting to get as far away from her as possible. Still, N hesitantly steps forward, carrying the train with him. Maybe it's because of previous recognition from the dreamer, but he's dropped the idea that Paprika wants to hurt him or his friends. He climbs onto the chest to sit beside her, in an odd sort of animalistic perch. He stays on the edge, though, fearing any direct contact with her. He keeps his eyes on the train.]

You're wrong. P-people... are bad. [He flips the train over to study its underside.] Ghetsis says so. And my friends... they tell me about the things humans do. [He places the train atop his knees.] That's why I'm not supposed to go out-- To keep safe!

Who the hell is this Ghetsis dude? Sounds like a real douchebag to me.

[Belatedly, she realizes that swearing in front of little Ns is probably not the best thing to do. Oops.]

Yeah, but wouldn't you rather, like, see it for yourself? People do all kindsa stuff, and it's not like everybody's gonna go to school to get their Masters' in Douchebaggery, y'know?

[She pauses for a moment, grasping at some sort of way to try and explain this all to him. After a good minute or so of waving her hands around in an attempt to come up with something, she settles on an idea and points to the opposite wall of the room.]

Okay, so, like, d'you see that wall? I know this girl, and even if she doesn't seem, like, super-nice or anything at first, she's pretty much the greatest person I know. What she wants to do is build cool stuff like this place so that everybody can have homes or places to work and hang out. That doesn't sound so crummy, right?

[N has no idea what a douchebag is, but he answers the question with an air of pride:] Ghetsis is my father! [But he pauses briefly, glancing around to make sure no one else is listening. He's not supposed to refer to Ghetsis in such a direct manner.] T-teaching me how to help the Pokemon. [He beams.] Change the world and make it better!

[He looks at the wall when Paprika points to it, and seems to lapse into deep concentration for a time.] ... The Pokemon too? [It'd be nice if all his friends had houses like his to stay safe in.]

Aw, with what? "The Creepy Guy's Guide to Homeschooling Kids"?

[Oh, yeah, Ghetsis is going to need a Burn Heal for that one. Good job, Paprika.]

Well, yeah, I guess if we'd have Pokemon, she'd wanna make stuff for them, too.

[Her smile gets about as sad as Paprika's facial expressions generally get--she's never been apart from Rose this long since the day they met, and it's a bit odd to have that kind of constant just totally taken away.]

I bet she'd actually be pretty good at this whole Pokemon thing, yeah.

[Sadly (or maybe fortunately), the joke goes right over his head. He frowns in confusion.]
Y-you... use lots of words I don't know. [Homeschooling? Creepy?] But I'm gonna be king! And then everyone'll listen and change!

[He beams, and continues to do so when she answers positively to his question.] Good! [It's a nice thought... But he's not supposed to like anything to do with humans. He glances at Paprika curiously.] Wh-who? N-normal people aren't supposed to do good things like that.

[She snorts a little at that--compared to everyone else she knows, her vocabulary's around his level.]

Well, why not? I mean, like, being a jerk to everyone doesn't really pay, right? Unless you're a politician, I guess.

[Slowly, making sure that little N can see her hand (useful lessons learned from keeping an iguana should totally apply to small children), she places it atop his head and ruffles his hair affectionately.]

So this girl--her name's Rosemary, like the plant, but I just call her Rose--I mean, she's not all like liberation and save the whales or Wailords or whatever, but like, she cares, y'know? Some people are kinda crummy at showing it, but Iunno, if you asked me, I guess I'd say that most people aren't too bad.

N-no, b-but... [He looks a bit beside himself. It's not good being mean to others, he knows that... but he's just been told so many times that all people do just that. And has his friends to prove it.

He sees Paprika's hand move, and seems to brace himself for a strike. But then she... pets him? He cringes a little, staring at her with wide, confused eyes. Listening to the part about Rose, he looks off in thought, and gets an idea.]
Sh-she should join Team Plasma. You can too. [Just then, as if in approval, one of the two Woobats flies out from its hiding place, fluttering in curious circles over Paprika's head. N looks startled, then beams.] See? Mm... My friends d-don't like people. But Woobat likes you! [Even if the other Pokemon stay hidden away.]

[If it wasn't a bit weird to hug the dream little kid version of a socially awkward guy from another universe, Paprika would definitely do it. She's pretty neutral on children, but this one seems like he could really go for some actual affection.]

Team Plasma? You mean the snuggie guys?
lowercaseking: (♛ play the hero.)

[personal profile] lowercaseking 2012-02-08 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
[He furrows his brow in confusion. What is a snuggie?]
This is... Team Plasma's castle. [How could Paprika be here and not know this was Team Plasma's castle? Oh well...] Ghetsis and all the servants w-work together to liberate the Pokemon!
noplaidshirt: (bwuh?)

[personal profile] noplaidshirt 2012-02-10 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Snap, you have a legit castle?

[Looking around, it's not too hard to believe, really. N's room alone is probably about the size of the Montgomery family's entire flat.]

Liberate them from what?

[She remembers hearing something at the tail end of the Snuggie guy--Ghetsis?--'s speech about liberation, but it all seemed like some sort of PETA hullabaloo.]
lowercaseking: (♛ make a better world.)

[He smiles proudly and nods.]
A king sh-should have a castle, right? A-and... it keeps out bad people too. [Or so he thinks. Little does he know it was a structure built almost entirely by enslaved Pokemon.

At Paprika's question, his smile vanishes in favor of a snarl of sorts.]
Trainers! [He looks to the nearby hovering Woobat and reaches out to it, holding it on his lap. He gingerly brushes aside its fur to show a jagged scar hidden beneath. A similar one runs along the membrane of one wing. He frowns sadly.] Trainers are mean... They h-hurt my friends with their... stupid b-battles. [He holds the Woobat to his chest.] I'm gonna mm-make them go away, though.
