[Video abruptly cuts on, a young man fiddling with the camera to get it propped up correctly while an Eevee rests contentedly in his lap.] Oh! It's on, good. [He sits back, gently scritching behind the Eevee's ears.]

Hello, everyone! My name is Bill. It seems I'm in a rather...interesting predicament, but I'm told quite a few people here are in it as well. I was also told there is a network in place for mass communication, so, if anyone on this network would be so kind as to offer me any help in a matter it would be very appreciated.

This matter being, does anyone know where the Storage System admin of this region might be reached? There's a laboratory in this town, but the professor seems to be absent and no one else here knows. I'd like to get in touch with them as soon as possible.

[Hi there Bill, have a video feed. It's a girl with an Oshawott perched on her shoulder, half-hiding behind her hair. And for some reason, she's wearing a pair of Stantler antlers on her head in lieu of the baseball cap she'd usually have. That can barely be seen in the video just now, though, with the way the frame cuts off.]

Yo, you just came in, right? [A friendly wave.] But uh, storage system... You mean the pokemon storage system? Are you a trainer too? [It seems she doesn't recognize him right off the bat. Hilda, put away the league battle reruns for a moment, and read up on your contemporary inventors.]

[Oh, what a cute little thing! For a moment he's distracted by Oshawott, brain going off in all kinds of directions, inquiries and possibilities about the region's indigenous Pokemon--important matter at hand, Bill! Focus, focus.]

Yes, the Pokemon storage system. I'm not exactly a trainer, I'm the system admin for Kanto and Johto.

The system admin... That means you're in charge of it and stuff? Cool. [She seems genuinely impressed. It's something she uses often, after all!] Bebe's the one in charge of it in Unova. Well... At least in the Unova I come from. [She looks a little sheepish here.] This one might be different.

Ah, right. The...bridge to other worlds thing. Very strange, something purely theoretical being proven right before my eyes so abruptly...

Bebe? Strange, she's only responsible for the Sinnoh system as far as I'm aware. Or, she is where I'm from, I suppose.

Did I say Bebe? I meant Amanita! [Man. These box things, she ought to read more into them!] Amanita lives in Striaton City. Bebe is from Sinnoh, I just remembered hearing about her somewhere. [Which reminds her...] Wait a moment, you said your name was Bill, right? Whoa, isn't Bill from Kanto the one who invented the whole thing?

Amanita in Striaton City, got it. Thank you very much. [Makin' a mental note to check the map for where that was, and giving a grateful nod and smile--which promptly turns into a slightly flustered smile.]

Yes, the core programming of the system is mine. I'm actually surprised to learn there's a version of it in Unova, I haven't organized anything for it yet at home...must be another "other world" oddity. But I'm very, very curious to see how this version works.

Well, it does what it's meant to, you know. I don't know what I'd have done without it! You and Amanita, and Bebe too, must all be geniuses. [She grins, and her Oshawott peeks at the camera curiously. He seems to be taking in the idea that the person on the X-transceiver's screen is a genius, or so says his trainer.]

I'm very glad you're making good use of it, and I'm sure Bebe and Amanita are too. [Oh, there it is again! Have a little wave, Oshawott.] And hello to you too.

Ah, would you mind indulging my curiosity? I've never seen an Unova Pokemon before--who's your friend here?

Really? [She gingerly picks her pokemon up, and shows him off at the camera so Bill can get a nice full view.] This is Oscar. He's an Oshawott, a water-type. They're one of the three starters in Unova.

[Oscar the Oshawott seems a bit camera-shy, but he still greets Bill sheepishly.] The scalchop is good for attacking too. Come on, show it to BIll. [He obliges, detaching it from his belly and holding it out to the camera. He seems very proud of it.]

[A detachable shell? Was it part of their body or do they find it in their environment when young? Does it change shape when they evolve? How? He forgets he's talking to someone at the moment, taking a little while to excitedly ponder these things before coming back to. Ah, he wish he had a notepad to write some of these inquiries down for later...]

I see, I see! A mammal is a first for a water type starter...what are the others like?

Ah, lemme just show you. [She has her Oshawott climb back up to her shoulder, and digs for something in her bag. It's her old Pokedex! Which means next to nothing in this Unova, but still seems to somewhat work, at least as a read-only sort of repository.

She picks out an entry, and shows it to Bill.] Tepig is the fire starter... [After a moment, she switches it back a couple of numbers] And Snivy's the grass starter. If you're in Nuvema, you can stop by the professor's lab and check them out yourself.

[And in those few moments, so many more questions bubbled up in his head. Aaaah, if only for all the new Pokemon he could see Unova was going to be such an adventure!]

I am in Nuvema, yes, but the professor seems to have stepped out for the moment. I'll probably have to stop by some other time. [Hadn't planned on staying very long if he could help it, but he just has to stay now. He's only seen three of the native Pokemon, he can't leave so soon!]

Waaait, no way, Bill!? [Dave appears on screen, peering incredulously into the camera like he can't quite believe what he's seeing. But he recognizes the other man's face at once; it's quite the famous one in the Pokemon universe. And having spent the last few years of his life in Kanto and Johto, Dave's seen it a lot.] Like, the Bill! No shit!? [He shakes his head and gives a dramatic sigh, throwing up his hands in mock surrender.] Dude, I can't believe they got you, too; they must be up to some serious shit to kidnap you.

[Careful, Dave, with reactions like that you're bound to make him blush.] Ah, hello!

Kidnap? The way this all was described to me made it sound more like an accident than anything.

Yeah, well, that's what they want you to think, isn't it? [Where is a tinfoil hat when you need one?] That is so insane that you're here; first Emmet and now you! You're famous, dude! Ha ha!

[He shakes his head again, still not quite believing these brushes with celebrity he's experiencing.] But yeah, man, kidnap. Me and Emmet, we're working on figuring out who's behind it. And you being here just makes it so much more serious! What are they up to? Maybe they're going to mess with the computers while you're not there to stop them! Shit, man, this just got super real.

[That--oh, wow. Normally he wouldn't give something like that much thought but his computers have been hypothetically threatened and now this is serious.]

That's...a very unsettling thought. What sort of things have you found in relation to this idea?

Right!? It is unsettling! I'm glad you think so!

[Dave adjusts his lensless glasses and makes an effort to recall all he can for Bill.] Well, when we got here, all our Pokemon were stolen, right? First mystery! Where'd they all go!?

And..! Shortly after I arrived here, all of us outsiders -- that's us people from other worlds, like a Pokemon you get in a trade, right? I thought that was clever. Anyway! All of us outsiders got invited to this place called Relic Castle. It's kind of like the Ruins of Alph, you know? We got invited by the Nacrene City gym leader, but she wasn't there! We explored it all by ourselves, and I dunno what happened, but we must have been set up because after we got down in there, all of us got turned into Pokemon. [A dramatic pause, to allow for the expected skepticism.]

Yes! Pokemon! I was a fucking Charizard! Why did this happen? Nobody knooows. [He waves his hands mysteriously, getting into the drama of relating all this information.] And then, then! One day this messenger guy comes along and gives us all Dittos. But they're not normal Dittos, right? They all look like Legendaries. I've got a tiny little Arceus, man. Arceus. What the fuck is that about?

Anyway, there's just so much weird shit going down, there just has to be someone behind it, you know!? And now you're here!

[Turned into Pokemon? Dittos shaped like Legendaries? That. Oh. Wow. Uh. Pardon Bill, he needs a moment to digest all of this information. He's be a bit more hesitant to believe crazy stuff like that happening, but it's a much different story when you've just been transported to a faraway land.]

It does seem oddly organized if these things are only happening to outsiders like us. You mentioned the possibility of tampering with the computers back home, but there are plenty of people who would be able to defend any vulnerable network in my stead. [Even if he would much rather ensure their safety himself.] Do you have any other ideas as to why this all may be happening? Who else has shown up here?

Mm. [Dave appears a bit crestfallen at the question about why it was happening.] No -- I mean, we're working on it, right? But there don't seem to be any leads. It's lame.

But, there are some insane people here! Well, I mean, from the real world. There's Emmet the Subway Boss, Iris -- she's a gymleader in Unova -- and you, 'course. There's this other girl who's from the real world, too, named Hilda? Everyone else I've met is from another world though! Like this one dude, the Doctor, he can go to whatever dimension he wants, but he's stuck here I think.

Some important people, then. And people from different worlds...as in, those who don't have Pokemon? [Consider his mind boggled at that idea.]

If whoever may be behind all this does have something planned, then perhaps it would be at a much greater scale than can even be imagined at this point. If they're able to take us from our homes and store us in some--some pocket dimension and further step on the workings of reality like you've described...h'm. I'm almost frightened to imagine what else they would be capable of doing.

Yeah! Like, as in no Pokemon. [He raises his eyebrows dramatically.]

Exactly, bro; this shit is intense and I'm glad you see that! You think you could help investigate? I dunno, maybe there's some clues in the tech somewhere. Like these Xtransceivers! [He lifts his arm to indicate the machine before realizing that he is currently using it to communicate with Bill. He shrugs.] I'm totally sorry you got kidnapped and all, man, but I'm stoked that you're here. With your help we gotta be able to figure this out.

[A world without Pokemon is infinitely stranger (and less desirable) than their current situation as far as Bill's concerned.]

Of course, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand any way I can. If whoever is responsible for all this turns out to be malevolent I'd like to find out sooner rather than later.

[NOW YOU'VE GOTTEN THE HELPFUL PEOPLE, have a Dragonite. Well, she looks like a normal young woman with an Altaria-hat which is actually a real Altaria, but whatever.]

The Pokemon Storage System, it allows trainers to store their Pokemon as data temporarily. I heard--or, inferred from what I heard, at least--that this region has one, yes?
