[The audio cuts on, and for a moment or two it's simply background noise. Lots of people, lots of footsteps on what sounded like asphalt--a city, perhaps?

Then a voice cuts in, low and smooth.] I have been informed that this country of Unova has become a meeting place of worlds. Because I am not the only one in this boat, as it were, I feel it only appropriate to be polite and properly greet this new world. So, good afternoon Unova and its residents, be they native or no. It is a pleasure to meet you.

...My companion extends his greetings as well. Thank you for your time.

Well, welcome to this world, anyway! Hey - what's your world like?!

Not very dissimilar to where I am now. Large cities crowded with people... [Considerably less gratuitous technology everywhere, though. But she didn't need to know that right at this moment.]

The only difference I can see immediately is the fauna.

[Unlike Iris down there, Grimsley wasn't going to be overly excited.]
I'm Grimsley - welcome to this world. [he hates it] And I'm going to be the strongest of these 'outsiders'. [smugsmugsmug]

[Yeeeeah, you sound your age. Not buying it.]

Is that so? I'll remember the name well, then.

[There was never anything interesting on the feeds. Occasionally, you'd get someone who was lost or bored. But maybe there was something now. Maybe it was his lucky day.

Or maybe not.] Well, well. I haven't seen you since you died. What are you doing here?

[He recognizes the voice immediately, and there's a thoughtful pause. Hadn't expected anyone familiar, especially not this one.]

The same thing as everyone else, I would assume. Unless others came here willingly.

[So Thomas is a sucker for good manners. What can he say! It reminds him of home. All the forced pleasantries and long-windedness of his high society persona -- it's downright nostalgic. Without knowing what the polite person on the Xtransceiver actually looks like, he is free to kindle a vague hope that there may be common ground between the two of them.] Good afternoon! And welcome to Unova. I hope your transition was not as jarring as my own, ha ha! After several months here, I am still finding new things to be at odds with the world I arrived from. My name is Thomas Sinclair; I don't believe I caught yours?

[Ah, someone else practiced in polite speech. This could either be irritating or interesting, but as long as he was getting a feel for the land's inhabitants...]

I had hardly noticed the transition, to tell the truth. Good afternoon, Thomas. You may call me Shadow.

Ah! Well, then, I am glad for you. It is a pleasure, um, Shadow. [Little warning bell there; 'Shadow' is not the most innocent of names, is it? Plus, you failed the are-you-from-my-world test by calling him Thomas rather than Mister Sinclair. Old habits dying hard, he had to consciously avoid referring to his new acquaintance as Mister Shadow.] I'm afraid that I'm hardly the most useful person for a new arrival to be speaking to, but if I can help you in any way I'd be happy to give it an attempt?

[Tish tosh, Shadow is a completely innocent name.]

The basics have already been explained to me at the...Entralink, I believe. But thank you for the offer. Perhaps if I need assistance in the future I could come to you? [Fat chance he actually would, but.]

Oh, hi! Welcome to Unova! ...Er, I didn't come from here, though. [Can you really just kind of welcome people like that when you're still on the welcome wagon yourself? Trans-dimensional etiquette, how does it work.] Yeah, hehehe, there are a lot of us like that here.

My name is Jade, by the way! It's nice to meet you!

So many people in such a situation is very strange indeed. Your welcome is appreciated, Jade.

Mhm, and from so many different kinds of worlds, too! It's all pretty weird.

Oh, what's your name, by the way?

You may call me Shadow.

In truth, I have yet to hear anything of the other worlds those here have been taken from. If you wouldn't mind indulging my curiosity, what sort of world do you call home?

[That's...an interesting name, for sure.] Well, it's nice to meet you, Shadow!

My home? Well, um, relative to here... [There's a slight pause as she thinks. Where does she begin?] There weren't any Pokémon, for one thing! Just, you know, regular animals. But the people I've met are all just like the people were back home—er, but I lived on my island and it was just me and my grandpa and my dog, so there weren't really people right there, but everywhere else. There were the kinds of cities and forests and things that this world has back at home, too! I guess the two of them are kind of similar, in some ways. Does that make sense?

[She isn't going to even try to explain Sburb, though. Nobody needs a headache here, and it hardly counted as 'home'.] What about you?

Interesting. From that description your home sounds similar to mine. Are you from Earth, then?

Yeah! Hehe, I guess my trying to explain it seems kind of silly now.

No, it was informative. And you said those you have met are the same...a good chance most are from Earth, then. I must wonder what it is that sets our worlds apart.

Well, I don't think all of them are from Earth, though! There were a bunch who were actually from this kind of world—that's even more confusing, though, since I guess their version is different from this one? I don't think anybody really gets it yet.

Ah, I see. Very strange indeed...

Well. At the very least this is something interesting to uncover.

[Though he's not happy with an adventure interrupting his most recent assignment...all the more reason to find as much info as he can, he supposed.]
