[ action / audio for N ] The Heinous Plot part 2

[So it turns out that the biggest issue involved in being a Pokemon is not being able to get hotel rooms, or even to stay in the Pokemon Center. For some reason they tended to prefer that the Pokemon were accompanied by a trainer. It was only a minor setback, though; Miror B. is no stranger to roughing it in tents. Being on the run from the law tended to do that, and if nothing else Unova wasn't the lifeless, arid desert inland Orre was. Camping was almost relaxing here.

It is late evening the day after they were all expelled from the Relic Castle and transformed into Pokemon, a day Miror had spent dragging Proto Man and Paprika around Nimbasa and being annoyed with Emmet for running off. Oh, he knew where he went, but it wasn't any less annoying. The little campsite Team Miror B. now occupies is off in the woods, a fair distance from the amusement park but close enough for the occasional scream from the roller coaster to be heard. Miror B.'s Combusken sits beside a small campfire, occasionally poking a stick into the flames in boredom. The two Lombre, Lefty and Righty, stand idly on either side of the entrance to Miror's tent, looking like inattentive bodyguards.

Miror suddenly walks out of his tent, Xtransceiver in hand. The Lombre snap to attention and scramble into step behind him. Miror barely turns to address Proto Man and Paprika as he walks off into the woods, followed by the two Pokemon.]
Have a phone call to make, darlings! Don't get into trouble while I'm gone! Fuhoho!

[After a couple minutes walking into the woods, he's quite sure he's out of earshot. Humming to himself, he turns on his Xtransceiver and sends out a message to N.] Hello, N! Fuhohoho! Just wondering how that search for your little friend is going, you were oh-so-optimistic when we last talked.

((ORCHESTRATING A KIDNAPPING is surprisingly difficult in this kind of setting, haha. Anyway, I set up this post so that Paprika and Proto Man (and Emmet, if Emmet gets bored of spying on the Battle Subway...? And anyone else who might be in/near Nimbasaaaa....?) can have a nice little campfire chat or something I don't know. But you have the option I guess!? DO WHATEVER YOU WANT LOL))

[The reply begins with a vengeful snarl.]
You! What have you done? What have you done with her? [His original plan was to answer sounding calm and collected, but he really can't hide the distress in his voice. His words are spoken even faster than their usual quick pace.]

She's done nothing-- leave her be!

[audio]

[identity profile] the-nth-power.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[He growls.] I can't reach her. You've done something to her Xtransceiver.

[He abruptly falls silent, considering the terms of such an agreement. His immediate response is, of course, a wholehearted "no".] ... Tch. You speak of Pokemon as if they are simple tools to be exchanged. My friends are stronger in will than you think. Even if I were to agree to such a trade, they would not obey you.

However, I would sooner release them than hand them over to the likes of you. [He considers Paprika a friend too, but he still would always choose Pokemon over humans.] Your negotiation is a cowardly one-- do you fear facing me in battle, Miror B.? [Because battles are how all disputes are settled, right?]

[audio]

[identity profile] the-nth-power.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Silence! [It's getting more difficult to keep the almost childishly frustrated edge out of his tone.] You know nothing of my friends' true strength.

[It takes him a moment to respond to the second bit, though a bit of a low canine whimper can be heard. How little he knows about Miror B. is suddenly very apparent; he doesn't know so much as the man's face, let alone how far he would go in this situation.] D... Don't hurt her. [He sighs heavily.] She has no place in this dispute you have with me, understand? She is not even an accomplice of mine-- simply someone I happened to meet. She knows nothing about me. She may know of my status as Champion, but that is all she has to offer you-- and even that information is useless. [Other than weakening his trust in his human friends, that is.]

[identity profile] the-nth-power.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hmph. I would have offered you the respect you desire had you shown your own to my friends. [And that conversation has come to this? And it's true; there is no such "Pokemon police force". He huffs.]

I would never leave any Pokemon in your hands. [A pause. Paprika is his friend, but what exactly is he willing to give up to ensure her safety?] ... What else would you request? You seem to regard "due respect" more flexibly than I.

[audio]

[identity profile] the-nth-power.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Snag Machine...? [Yeah, apparently he'd have a tough time finding one of those.

He gives a short, frustrated growl. He wouldn't be adverse to stopping these conversations with Miror B., but there's still that "hero of Unova" ideal he's trying to reclaim. This man sees Pokemon as tools; N can't just not interfere.]
I hardly consider the enslavement of my friends to be "basic". You're mad.

[He falls silent, contemplating. These negotiations are clearly unreasonable to him, but Paprika might be in danger. He could track Miror B. down, but he has no idea where he currently is, nor what he even looks like. He isn't sure he can track anyone down by voice recognition alone...

Then again, he's a Zoroark now. Heightened senses and illusions, if he could learn how to use them. If he just knew where Miror B. could be...]

... We were all transformed after the expedition. I've changed-- as have you, I would assume. While I will not allow my friends to even consider serving you... perhaps I could be of some use? In Paprika's place.

[audio]

[identity profile] the-nth-power.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
[That almost prompts another growl, but he stops himself.] No. I am quite certain of its meaning. They've been kinder to me than humans ever have been. They deserve just as much respect, if not more. [Faith in humanity: plummeting. So why is he so concerned about Paprika? Maybe he should just let her fend for herself... but he can't.

He tries to choose his words carefully.]
I have claws, fangs... Tools of violence. [Disdainfully:] I'm sure you can find use for such things. And I'm fast.

[identity profile] the-nth-power.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
[That, of course, hits a chord. He's been concerned enough for Paprika herself-- But what of her Pokemon? He begins to pace back and forth, puzzling over the situation and growing increasingly frustrated.]
As I already told you, I would never leave any Pokemon in your hands.

[Abruptly, his Darumaka, who has been operating the Xtransceiver for him, decides to pipe up: "Now you listen here and you listen good. You dare touch one hair on Nugget's head, I'll Firepunch you to kingdom come before N even has a shot at you!"

N sighs. Threats aside, he has run out of bright ideas for the time being.]
... You won't get away with this. I'll rescue those you've taken, one way or another.

[Ever since arriving and teleporting from Nuvema to Nimbasa, Grimsley had been lost. Sure, he'd spent a bit of time with Stocking - however, he wished to get away from the noise of the world around him.

After all, he still had to cope with this form. Oh, Arceus, it was terrible. What a first impression of whatever this was.

And that's what brought him to the campsite. By now, he'd gotten a tiny bit used to listening to the world - though not that well. Clearly, he was a messy Deino - he already had many scrapes over his body. God, he'd never let anybody see him like this normally. But he had no choice, now did he?]

Well, Murkrow? Anything good here?

[He asked, talking to his thin, weak Pokemon. It was acting as his eyes.]

Great. Excellent. Really.

[You can taste the sarcasm!

However, a tent does sound... acceptable to sleep in. Not good, mind you. But hopefully soon, he'd awaken from his nightmare, or this kidnapping, or whatever stupid thing this was. Following the flapping of his Murkrow, he stopped in front of it, trying to speak to whatever was nearby.]

...Hello? Is there anybody here?

[He felt rather unhappy with this whole situation. Having to ask other beasts for shelter, even for a day? How terrible. But if there was no reply, he could get a free home for a night.]

[identity profile] bluesrhapsody.livejournal.com 2011-11-13 02:35 am (UTC)(link)

[The first sign of another presence, and Proto Man snaps to his feet. Not too far away there was… this. That certainly was a thing. It looks kind of lost.]

Can I help you?

[Then there was that strange bird. This whole thing seemed a little suspicious.]

Can't you see we're camping here?

ext_1012613: (event (deino times);)

[identity profile] fated-fall.livejournal.com 2011-11-13 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
...
[Okay. Time to discard his dignety. Sigh.]
I need somewhere to stay - and Murkrow noticed this... camp.

[identity profile] bluesrhapsody.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 03:10 am (UTC)(link)

[Proto Man tries to cross his arms, realizes they're just out of reach, and let's them fall at his side.]

Well that's just a shame. Too bad we're full.

[No telling who or what this is. It could be working for… What was his name? H? It doesn't really matter.]

I could send you back into town, if you really want.

[identity profile] noplaidshirt.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh look it is an oblivious kidnap-ee coming over to make life unintentionally difficult.]

You sure, man? I mean, we've already got two reptile-thingies here, and whatever this guy is doesn't look like he's gonna take up a bunch of space...

[identity profile] bluesrhapsody.livejournal.com 2011-11-18 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)

Paprika, we don't know this guy. We can't trust him. We don't even know what he's capable of. Besides, Miror would have our heads.

[Proto Man is keeping quiet, of course, so this guy doesn't catch on. But he'd have to have some great hearing. What are the odds of that?]
