[Audio] Fish Out of Temporal Water

[ The audio broadcast doesn't start off very positively; for a few moments, all that can be heard is the quiet crying of a young girl. Eventually, she manages to compose herself and after sniffing several times, speaks up. ]

... H--hello? Is anyone there? Mom? Mommy? I'm scared...

Can anyone help me? Can anyone please help me? I think-- I think I'm lost. I was in bed asleep and then I woke up and I was here...

There's a... thing here, too. I think it's a fox. It's making weird noises...

I--I'm in a field somewhere-- there's an old man here and he gave me a backpack and --

Wh--where am I?

[Shizuo doesn't look through the feeds often, not being the most social person. But a crying little girl definitely evokes some sympathy, and he figures he should help out a bit seeing as no one else has replied yet. Here, have a smoking blonde man wearing a slightly torn up bartender outfit.]

You're in Unova now.

Oh, don't cry! [The sound of the other girl speaking through the Xtransiever has Jade all sorts of worried. She's trying to sound as soothing as possible as she speaks.] You're in a place called Unova, and it's safe here, even though it's different, so don't worry! Take a few deep breaths. [She pauses to let the other girl do that, hoping it'll help her calm down.] I'm Jade. What's your name?

[ It takes Madotsuki a while to pluck up the courage to reply with a video but eventually, she manages to figure out the controls and sets up the camera. She doesn't exactly look her best - doing a lot of crying will have that effect - but she does her best to compose herself. ]

U--Unova? Is that some kind of foreign country?

[ A great deal of sniffing precedes her words, but when Madotsuki eventually replies, her voice sounds a little steadier as if hearing a friendly voice has comforted her somewhat. ]

Ah-- I--I'm Madotsuki.

What-- what's the little red thing that's following me? It looks kind of like a fox...

It's nice to meet you, Madotsuki! [Oh, good, she's helped a little! Jade keeps herself sounding upbeat and gentle.] That's probably a Pokémon. Everybody gets one when they first show up here!

Um-- it's nice to meet you, too.

A Pokemon? Someone else did mention it... what are they? Do they all look like this one?

You could say that. It's more like another world.

[He's not very good at explaining things.]

[ Confusion. Forever. ]

E--eh?!

Well, do you have animals where you come from? Because Pokémon are a lot like that, only they do things like breathe fire.

[Shizuo sighs, not really knowing how to elaborate. If only Estelle was here to do so.]

An explosion in this world somehow dragged you here.

[Yeah, it sounds crazy, but it's the truth as far as he can tell.]

"It's alright dear, did the old man tell you anything? You're in... another world, and the fox is most possible a Pokemon, an indigenous creature to this planet," Estelle said to the newcomer, trying to calm her down.

"My name is Estelle, what's yours dear?"

[A crying girl? Iris to the rescue!]
Don't worry! This world isn't dangerous! Trust me!

.... an explosion?

What kind of explosion?

B--breathe fire?! [ Definitely nervous again. ]

Uhm, yes, he said some stuff like that. I'm trying to work out what this one is but it just keeps making weird noises...

Ah-- I'm Madotsuki, it's nice to meet you!

[ After a few moments, the xcomm clicks onto a feed of Madotsuki, peering nervously into the device. She does her best to give a shaky smile, them yelps when a furry face pushes past to look. ]

Ah wait-- no! Sit? Heel?!

Where you are right now. A machine malfunctioned and now it's pulling people here from other worlds.

[Or something like that, anyway. Shizuo doesn't really get the mechanics of it, and doesn't care to. Wow, way to be reassuring.]

... alright then, I guess. [ Madotsuki trails off, and thinks to herself. This can't be a dream, right? It feels entirely too real and besides, there's way too many people here for any of her dreams. ]

It's confusing but... I think I understand.

[It isn't often that someone actually thanks him for something, and he awkwardly smiles back. If there's nothing more that Madotsuki needs, then Shizuo will be turning off the feed now.]

[Whoops that was the wrong thing to say, wasn't it?] Oh, don't worry! They are really friendly and they aren't going to hurt you unless you give them a reason too!

"It's nice to meet you too, Madotsuki-san~ Oh, um, perhaps you can find a Pokedex in the bag the man gave you! It's sort of black and rectangular! Just push the button and point it at the Pokemon and it'll tell you what it is!" Estelle advised cheerfully.

Ah, okay, just a second...

[ There's some fumbling around then after a short pause, a beep, and a droning voice emits from the Pokedex. ]

Vulpix, a Fox Pokémon. At the time of its birth, Vulpix has one white tail. The tail separates into six if this Pokémon receives plenty of love from its Trainer. The six tails become magnificently curled. Inside Vulpix's body burns a flame that never goes out. During the daytime, when the temperatures rise, this Pokémon releases flames from its mouth to prevent its body from growing too hot.

Yeah! Have you tried to pet it or anything yet? Just be slow and friendly and they'll be nice, too!

Um, it's sleeping right now so I didn't want to wake it up...

"Ah! Well that's all the information you would need! Vulpix is a Fire Pokemon, which are quite rare in most regions apparently!" Estelle nodded, reviewing the information.

"Would you like to know anything else, Mado-chan? Um... if I can call you that I mean, ahaha~"

Oh. That's okay, too! You see? They're just like animals.

Ah, I get it...

Is there somewhere nearby I can stay? I think I have some money with me...

[ There's a pause but then Madotsuki replies, sounding a little chirpier than before. ]

Um... Mado-chan is fine. Is.. is there somewhere I can stay, while I'm here?

"Ah! Very well then~" Estelle nodded, not that anyone could see her but she certainly sounded pleased by thinking of a cute nickname for Madotsuki.

"Well every city has a Pokemon Center that lets you stay free of charge~! They're quite convenient! I also heard the housing market at Accumula and Castelia City as pretty nice~" Estelle explained. "I would suggest teleporting to Nuvema from where you are and heading to Accumula for starters~"

Maybe this explanation needed citations.

You're at the Entralink, right? There's a portal that will bring you to Nimbassa City or or Nuvema Town, whichever you want to go to! [A brief pause as she thinks things over.] Hmm... I don't think your money is going to work here. But the Pokémon Centers that you can find in any town will let you stay there for free!
